Leone leads Raptor golfers to second place at Alvernia Invitational
MOHNTON, Penn. (Oct. 8, 2024) – The Rutgers University-Camden golf team has had a busy couple of days with invitationals on both Monday and Tuesday, and the hectic schedule proved to be just perfect for sophomore
Santino Leone.
Leone finished sixth for the second consecutive day, carding a round of 78 at the Alvernia University Invitational. The 40-golfer event was held at the Par 72 LedgeRock Golf Club. On Monday, Leone tied for sixth out of 37 golfers, shooting an 8-over par 81 in the United East Conference Preview tournament in Chambersburg, Penn.
The Scarlet Raptors finished second out of eight teams, shooting a 320, in the event won by host Alvernia (305). Alvernia's Shawn Williams and Jackson Hoovler both shot a round of 72 to lead the field.
Juniors
Pearse Lee and
Glenn Foley shot rounds of 79 and 81, respectively, to finish second and third on the Scarlet Raptors. Lee finished seventh, while Foley tied for 10th. Junior
Reid Walker shot an 82 to tie for 13th place and freshman
Andrew Slattery carded an 85 to place 22nd.
The Scarlet Raptors will host their annul RI-Camden Scarlet Raptor Fall Golf Invitational on Monday, October 21, beginning at 12 p.m. at the Rancocas Golf Club.
