CAMDEN, N.J. (Nov. 25, 2024) – Rutgers University-Camden freshman forward Courtney Edmundo (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) is enjoying quite a start to her collegiate basketball career.

Edmundo was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week on Monday, marking her second honor in the three weeks the NJAC has released weekly awards this season. Edmundo earned her first NJAC Rookie of the Week award on Nov. 11, only one game into her Scarlet Raptor career.

Edmundo earned her second honor after a week in which she averaged 16.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in two games. She shot 12-for-31 (38.7) from the floor and 7-for-10 (70.0) from the foul line, while also adding six assists, five steals and one blocked shot.

Edmundo scored 16 points against both FDU-Florham (Nov. 17) and Penn State-Harrisburg (Nov. 23) last week. She added 10 rebounds in the PSU-Harrisburg game to collect the second double-double of her five-game collegiate career. She also notched five assists, three steals and one block against the Nittany Lions.

Since Rutgers-Camden opened its basketball season on Nov. 9, Edmundo owns two NJAC Rookie of the Week honors and was named Rutgers-Camden's Raptor of the Week on Nov. 18.

For the season,  Edmundo leads the team in scoring (15.4 ppg), rebounding (7.4) and blocked shots (2), while tying for the lead with 12 steals. She is third on the team with 11 assists. A Biology major at Rutgers-Camden, she is shooting .439 from the floor (29-for-66) and .577 (15-for-26) from the foul line.

Edmundo's contributions have helped Rutgers-Camden post a 3-2 record in the young season, two more wins than the team collected all last season. The Scarlet Raptors open their NJAC schedule Tuesday night with a 6 p.m. game at Rutgers-Newark.
