Raptors tune up for NJAC meet at FastTrack National Invitational

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (Feb. 9, 2024) – Members of the Rutgers University-Camden indoor track team had a major test here Friday at the FastTrack National Invitational, competing in their final meet before the New Jersey Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships.
 
Friday's meet, which featured teams from all different NCAA divisions, was held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island. That same venue will be the site of the NJAC Championships on Feb. 19.
 
Sophomore Nadir Paige had a stellar meet, setting a PR in a pair of events. He finished 23rd out of 121 athletes in the 60-meter dash (7.10) and 42nd out of 121 athletes in the 200-meter dash (22.89). Freshman Robert Bayard was 43rd in the 60-meter dash (7.25) and 49th in the 200-meter dash (a PR of 23.03).
 
Sophomore Walter Pierce and freshman Hector Diaz had fine showings in the 45-man field of the 60-meter hurdles, finishing 29th (9.28) and 34th (9.58), respectively.
 
In the men's throwing events, freshmen Dyheim Watson and Aaron Le competed in both the 55-man shot put field and the 47-man competition in the weight throw. Watson was 37th (10.52 M) and Le placed 39th (10.22 M) in the shot put. In the weight throw, Watson finished 31st (a PR of 11.22 M) and Le was 38th (10.10 M).
 
The Raptors also received strong performances from their women throwers. Senior Alexis Marini finished 23rd of 54 in the shot put (10.23 M) and 12th of 55 in the weight throw (14.70). Freshman Kaitlyn Novak was 32nd in the shot put (9.57 M), while junior Francis Hill finished 42nd (8.68 M). Novak also set a PR in the weight throw (9.74 M) while placing 41st.
 
A pair of freshmen set PRs in the 122-athlete field of the women's 200-meter dash, with Lauren Carter finishing 60th (27.66) and Sydnie Marshall placing 95th (28.66).
 
Freshman Osagiaodouwa Ugowe led a Raptor trio in the 60-meter dash, finishing 78th of 91 athletes with a PR of 8.96.
