ASTON, Penn. (April 12, 2024) – The Rutgers University-Camden men's tennis team finally had the chance to play Neumann University here Friday after two previously-scheduled matches were postponed by rain.
The delay didn't help the Scarlet Raptors, however, as the Knights posted a 9-0 victory in a non-conference match.
The loss drops Rutgers-Camden to 0-7, while Neumann improves to 5-3.
The Knights won all three doubles matches as Raptor senior
Edward McWilliams Jr. and freshman
John Brady lost at the top spot, 8-1 and sophomore
Christopher Abacan and senior
Tyrone King Jr. were defeated at second doubles, 8-1. In the third doubles competition, freshman
Jeremy Young teamed up with sophomore
Cherif Kanoute, making his first appearance with the tennis program after a stellar season with the basketball team. They dropped an 8-0 decision.
In singles, McWilliams lost at the top spot (6-0, 6-0), Abacan was defeated at second singles (6-0, 6-1) and Brady lost at the third flight (6-4, 6-1). King was defeated at fourth singles (6-0, 6-0), Young lost at the fifth spot (6-0, 6-0) and Kanoute was defeated at sixth singles (6-0, 6-0).
The Raptors host SUNY-Oneonta Friday at 3 p.m. in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match.
