Marini, Bordon earn spots on All-NJAC Women's Track & Field Team
CAMDEN, N.J. (May 10, 2024) – When the New Jersey Athletic Conference released its All-Conference Women's Outdoor Track & Field Team today, a pair of Rutgers University-Camden athletes were among the NJAC honorees.
Senior
Alexis Marini (Pilesgrove, NJ/Woodstown) captured All-NJAC First Team recognition after winning the conference championship in the hammer throw last weekend. Sophomore
Isabella Bordon (Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) earned NJAC Second Team honors after finishing second in the heptathlon at the conference meet.

One of the outstanding throwers in the conference throughout her collegiate career,
Marini captured NJAC First Team honors for the first time when she finished first of 17 competitors in the hammer throw (50.86 meters) at the conference championships on May 4. She completed her tremendous NJAC meet the next day by placing fifth of 15 athletes in the discus (35.83 meters) and 13th of 20 in the shot put (9.85 meters). She will compete in the weight throw at the Widener Final Qualifier on Monday.

Marini's stellar NJAC meet earned her the seventh honor of her career as Rutgers-Camden's Raptor of the Week on Monday. It was her second Raptor of the Week honor this scholastic year, with the first one coming on Jan. 15 for her performance during indoor track season.
Marini's 2024 outdoor season included a PR of 51.21 meters in the hammer throw on April 20 at the Paul Donahue Invitational, placing her third of 25 athletes. She also finished 13th out of 20 athletes, mostly Division I throwers, at the prestigious Penn Relays on April 25.
During the 2023-24 indoor track season, Marini finished third of 17 athletes in the weight throw with a PR of 15.18 meters at the NJAC Indoor Track & Field Championships (Feb. 19), earning NJAC Honorable Mention. She also finished fifth of 19 in the shot put (11.26 meters) at the conference meet. Her indoor season performance earned her USTFCCCA All-Metro Region honors in the weight throw.
Marini earned USTFCCCA All-Metro Region honors in the hammer throw during the 2023 outdoor track season. She also set the Rutgers-Camden program record in the discus with a throw of 37.81 meters at the Widener Invitational on April 21. She earned NJAC Honorable Mention in the hammer throw, finishing third of 24 athletes with her old PR of 50.47 meters at the conference meet on May 6, and finished fourth of 22 in the discus (35.78 meters) and 15th of 25 in the shot put (10.34 meters) at the NJAC meet.
In addition to her numerous track accomplishments, Marini has captured countless academic honors, including USTFCCCA 2923 BCAA Duv, UUU Akk0Academic and a pair of NJAC Academic Honorable Mention awards for both the 2021-22 and 2022-23 scholastic years. The NJAC Academic awards for the 2023-24 scholastic year will be announced in June.
A double major in Economics and Philosophy who will be attending law school at the University of Georgia, Marini also has been a seven-time member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director's Honor Roll and a seven-time Dean's List student, with the 2024 Spring semester honors yet to be announced. On four of those occasions, she posted a perfect 4.0 GPA.
During her scholastic days at Woodstown High School, Marini captured six varsity track and field letters and one in swimming. She was a winter track team captain, captured the school's Athlete of the Month honor and was a member of the National Honor Society during both her junior and senior years.
Bordon captured her first All-NJAC honor after finishing second in the heptathlon with 3,157 points. It was only her second heptathlon after participating in the event for the first time at the TCNJ Invite and Multi on April 11-12, when she scored 2,651 points.
In her second-place finish at the NJAC meet, Bordon set a PR in six of the seven heptathlon events, including a time of 2:35.17 to win the 800-meter competition. She also finished second in the high jump (1.47 meters), the shot put (6.96 meters) and the javelin (23.28 meters). She was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (18.83) and the 200-meter dash (29.72). The only event where she barely missed her PR came in her fourth-place finish in the long jump (4.18 meters). She had posted a long jump of 4.21 meters at the TCNJ meet April 12.
During her two years at Rutgers-Camden, Bordon has earned two letters apiece with the cross country and indoor track program. This spring was her first season in outdoor track.
During the 2023 fall season, Bordon served as a co-captain of the women's cross country team, while leading the Scarlet Raptors in six of her seven 6K races. Overall, she has led the team in 10 of her 11 career meets.
During her scholastic days at Lenape High School, Bordon captured varsity letters in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track. She also was an Honor Roll student, an Academic Award winner and earned the Seal of Biliteracy.
A Dean's List student at Rutgers-Camden and a member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll, Bordon is a Health Sciences major with a minor in Spanish.
