CAMDEN, NJ (May 15, 2024) – Rutgers University-Camden senior Alexis Marini (Pilesgrove, NJ/Woodstown) closed out her stellar collegiate track and field career on Monday at the Widener Final Qualifier meet, but the Scarlet Raptors' star thrower added one last honor today when the New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its athletes of the week.

Marini was named the NJAC's Field Athlete of the Week for Women's Outdoor Track & Field, marking the second time she captured the honor this season. She also earned that award on April 15.

Marini finished third out of 17 athletes in the hammer throw at Monday's Widener meet with a distance of 50.83 meters.

During her Rutgers-Camden career, Marini set the program record in the discus (37.81 meters) at Widener on April 21, 2023. She earned NJAC First Team recognition this spring by becoming the conference hammer throw champion. She also captured NJAC Honorable Mention during both the 2023-24 winter season in the weight throw and the 2023 outdoor season in the hammer throw, finishing third at the conference meet during those seasons.

Marini has earned USTFCCCA All-Metro Region honors during both indoor and outdoor season, has captured USTFCCCA All-Academic recognition and has earned a pair of NJAC Academic Honorable Mention honors for the 2021-22 and 2022-23 scholastic years. The NJAC Academic honors for this scholastic year will be announced in June.

A seven-time Rutgers-Camden Raptor of the Week, including Jan. 15 and May 6 this year, Marini has been a member of the Dean's List and the Athletic Director's Honor Roll during every one of her semesters on campus. Out of those seven complete semesters (the 2024 spring honors haven't been announced yet), four of them have seen her post a 4.0 GPA.
