ST. MARY'S CITY, Maryland (August 30, 2024) – Rutgers University-Camden grad student
Jazmin Brown notched an early first-half goal and Salisbury University scored on a late-game penalty kick as the two teams played to a 1-1 tie in their season opener at the Seahawk Classic. The event is being held at St. Mary's College of Maryland.
Brown, playing in her second season at Rutgers-Camden after lettering as an undergraduate at Saint Peter's University, scored only 1:05 into the game to give the Scarlet Raptors a quick lead. It was her first point at Rutgers-Camden.
The Scarlet Raptors clung to that lead most of the game until Salisbury was awarded a penalty kick at 78:54. Sophomore Ava Wheeler scored to tie the contest.
Salisbury held a 15-11 advantage in shots during the game, including a 7-5 margin in shots on goal. The Sea Gulls also had a 10-5 advantage in corner kicks.

Michaela Graham finished with six saves, while Salisbury junior keeper Riley Pinato had four.
The Rutgers-Camden women play a 4 p.m. game against host St. Mary's College of Maryland at the Seahawk Classic Saturday.
