SAINT MARY'S CITY, Maryland (August 31, 2024) – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's soccer team managed only two shots on goal during on the second day of its own Seahawk Classic here Saturday.
One of them found the net, however, and that was enough to edge Rutgers University-Camden, 1-0.
The win lifts the Seahawks to 2-0, while Rutgers-Camden comes away from the season-opening two-day event at 0-1-1.
The Scarlet Raptors out-shot the Seahawks, 14-7, overall, including 9-2 in shots on goal. St. Mary's broke a scoreless deadlock at 72:05, when freshman forward Brooke Hall tallied her first collegiate goal, assisted by freshman Makayla Marvray.
Rutgers-Camden's nine shots on goal included two apiece by graduate student
Jazmin Brown, who scored the lone goal Friday in a 1-1 tie against Salisbury, and by senior
Emily Owens. The Scarlet Raptors also had two shots apiece, including one on goal, from senior
Josie Jackson-Conner and sophomore
Brianne Reeves.
The Seahawks held a 4-1 edge in corner kicks

Michaela Graham made one save in the game, coming in the second half when the Seahawks had both of their shots on goal. St. Mary's freshman goalie Kyleigh Bland earned the shutout with nine saves, including seven in the second half.
The Rutgers-Camden women play their home opener Wednesday with a 7 p.m. game against Swarthmore College.
