CENTER VALLEY, Penn. (Aug. 31, 2024) – The Rutgers University-Camden volleyball team dropped a pair of matches here Saturday to finish its two-day trip to the DeSales University Invitational with an 0-3 record.
The Scarlet Raptors dropped a tough 3-2 decision against host DeSales in a morning match before being swept by SUNY-Brockport, 3-0, in the afternoon.
The Scarlet Raptors play a 7 p.m. match at Widener University on Thursday.
DeSales 3, Rutgers-Camden 2
The Bulldogs (1-1) stormed back after losing the first two sets, 25-20 and 25-22, to sweep the last three sets, 25-23, 25-17 and 15-11. It was the second straight season the Raptors dropped a tight five-set match against the host team at the DeSales University Invitational.
Rutgers-Camden received a double-double of 13 kills and 15 digs from sophomore
Sofia Granieri, who added a team-high three service aces. Freshman
Maria Theruviparambil and senior
Kaitlyn Parrish added 11 and 10 kills, respectively, while junior
Jessica Wiemer and freshman
Gabby Gbolahan both collected seven kills.

JoAnna Andrews, added double-doubles with 23 assists and 11 digs apiece, while sophomore
Mia Owens paced the team with 22 digs.
DeSales freshman Allison Reimer notched a double-double of 15 kills and 16 digs, while freshmen Veda Doxzen (30 assists, 13 digs) and Ashlyn Dinan (12 assists, 10 digs) also had double-doubles.
SUNY-Brockport 3, Rutgers-Camden 0
The Golden Eagles (2-1) posted a three-set win by scores of 25-14, 25-19 and 25-18, led by 10 kills and .421 hitting from junior Alenna Williamson, 20 assists from sophomore Kaitlyn Jewett and 16 digs from junior Alexis Sison.
Rutgers-Camden received another double-double from Granieri, who had 15 kills and 10 digs, while hitting a robust .583. She also had the lone Rutgers-Camden service ace.
Andrews collected 13 assists for the Scarlet Raptors, while both Andrews and Owens had seven digs. Parrish and sophomore
Mia Francis notched four block assists apiece.
