Cross country teams run at Stockton's Osprey Open

GALLOWAY, N.J. (Sept. 14, 2024) –The Rutgers University-Camden cross country teams competed in a huge invitational here Saturday when they ran against 19 other teams at Stockton University's Osprey Open.
 
The men finished 17th with 487 points, led by another stellar performance from sophomore co-captain Jacob Dinerman, who placed 16th out of 189 runners in the 8K race. He posted a time of 26:01.68 in the all-division race, which was won by Caldwell's Tilak Datta in 25:03.18.
 
The Scarlet Raptor women placed 19th (615 points), led by sophomore A'Maya Stanard, who posted a time of 30:11.50 in her first collegiate 6K race to finish 146th out of 180 runners. The women's race was won by Seton Hall's Honey Strosnider in a time of 22:21.96.
 
Seton Hall captured the women's race (24 points), while Moravian won the men's competition (34 points).
 
In addition to Dinerman, the Raptor men saw a quartet of freshman finish in the next four spots, including Josiah Saint Elien (141st at 31:35.50), Yaniel Colon (154th at 32:55.01), Antonio Busbee (166th at 34:00.32) and Kristopher Ewell (169th at 34:20.70). Sophomore co-captain Angel Chaj placed 185th (42:31.64).
 
On the women's side, junior co-captain Xochitl Bautista-Castelan finished second to Stanard, running 159th overall in a time of 32:35.87. Seniors Evelyn Macias Pilco, Adriana Bradley and Maria Lopez finished 172nd, 173rd and 174th, respectively, in times of 38:29.48, 39:14.52 and 39:20.90. Junior co-captain Isabella Bordon finished 177th (41:42.62).
 
The Scarlet Raptors will return to action on Friday, Sept. 20, when they run in the Herb Lorenz Cross Country Invitational at The College of New Jersey.
