ASTON, Penn. (Sept. 28, 2024) – The Rutgers University-Camden volleyball played a pair of Knights as they traveled here Saturday for a tri-match at Neumann University, and both the host team and Arcadia University came away with wins.
In the opening match, the host Neumann Knights outlasted the Scarlet Raptors in five sets, 25-23, 23-25, 26-28, 25-17 and 15-13, to raise their record to 6-9.
In the second match against the Arcadia Knights, Rutgers-Camden was defeated in four sets, 28-26, 17-25, 21-25, 18-25.
The results leave Rutgers-Camden with a 4-11 record.
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Tuesday at 7 p.m. when they host Rutgers-Newark in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match. Rutgers-Camden is 1-0 in NJAC play.
Neumann 3, Rutgers-Camden 2
The two teams traded 25-23 victories in the first two sets, with the Knights rallying from a 21-23 deficit in the opening set to score the final four points. Rutgers-Camden notched the final two points of the second set, breaking a 23-23 tie on a kill by senior middle hitter/right side

In a back-and-forth battle in the third set that went extra time, the Scarlet Raptors finally prevailed, 28-26. Rutgers-Camden forged a 25-25 tie on a kill by sophomore outside hitter/right side
Sofia Granieri and, after Neumann took a 26-25 lead, the Scarlet Raptors scored the final three points for the win. The 26th and 27th points came on kills by Granieri, while the clinching point came on a kill by sophomore setter

Mia Owens assisted the final two kills.
Neumann led all the way in the fourth set, steadily pulling away for a 25-17 victory. In the decisive fifth set, the Knights broke a 13-13 tie with a pair of kills by freshman Julia Solomon to win the match, 15-13.
Granieri finished with a double-double of 17 kills and 10 digs, while freshman middle blocker
Gabby Gbolahan had 14 kills, six block assists and three service aces. She hit .303. Junior middle blocker/right side
Jessica Weimer hit .444 with nine kills and four block assists, Parrish had six kills and senior right side
Peyton McGregor had five block assists and three kills.

Avery Ang collected 25 assists and nine digs. Andrews notched 20 digs and completed a double-double with 11 digs.
Owens collected 24 digs and three assists. Junior defensive specialist
Sophia LaPorta delivered nine digs and joined sophomore defensive specialist
Madison Snelgrove with two aces apiece.
Arcadia 3, Rutgers-Camden 1
The Scarlet Raptors posted another 28-26 victory in the opening set, winning the last three points on Arcadia attack errors. The Knights bounced back to post three straight wins, 25-17, 25-21 and 25-18 to win their fourth straight match and raise their record to 8-7.
Granieri added another double-double with 11 kills and 19 digs, while Gbolahan and Parrish had 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Gbolahan had three service aces, while Parrish added five block assists and Weimer had four block assists.
Andrews notched 20 assists, eight digs and five service aces. Ang had 16 assists and nine digs.
In addition to Granieri, Owens also added 19 digs.
