SCRANTON, Penn. (Sept. 29, 2024) – The Rutgers University-Camden men's tennis team saw its scheduled match at Penn State-Abington postponed by rain on Saturday, but the Scarlet Raptors swung back into action here Sunday, making the long journey into central Pennsylvania.
Playing for the first time since September 21, the Scarlet Raptors dropped a 5-2 decision against the University of Scranton.
Both teams now own a 2-2 record.
Rutgers-Camden's lone wins came at third singles, where graduate student
Kenil Patwa posted a 3-6, 5-7, 0-10 victory, and at sixth singles, where sophomore
Julian Pinder earned a 6-0, 6-2 win
The Royals won the one point for doubles by sweeping all three doubles matches. At first doubles, graduate student
Alex Loope and freshman
Alex Turcu lost, 2-6. The second doubles team of freshman
Neal Shah and Patwa was defeated, 3-6. At third doubles, Pinder and junior
Christopher Abacan lost, 3-6, 6-3, 0-6, 0-6).
The Raptors lost four of the six singles matches, with Loope falling at the top spot (4-6, 2-1, retired), Shah losing at second singles (3-6, 5-7), sophomore
John Brady dropping a match at fourth singles (0-6, 0-6) and Turcu losing in the fifth spot (6-3, 0-6, 0-6).
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Saturday with an 11 a.m. match at Wilkes University.
