Boen earns NJAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
CAMDEN, N.J. (Sept. 3, 2024) – Rutgers University-Camden senior goalkeeper
Sean Boen was honored today when the New Jersey Athletic Conference named him its first Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week this season.
Boen opened his season with a pair of 1-0 shutouts over the weekend, blanking both Neumann University Friday and Haverford College Saturday. He faced 12 total shots, including four on goal, and made two saves in each game, in addition to breaking up numerous threats. In each game, Boen made a spectacular save.
Boen's NJAC Defensive Player of the Week award marks the seventh time in his career that he has captured that honor, adding to the three times he won it during both his sophomore and junior seasons.
An All-NJAC Second Team goalie the past two seasons, Boen also earned NJAC Rookie of the Week honors as a freshman in 2021.
Boen also was named Rutgers-Camden's Raptor of the Week on Tuesday, marking the fourth time in his career he has captured that award.
With his two shutouts already this season, Boen hiked his career total to 20. He ranks fourth on the program's career shutout list, one behind third-place Mike Randall. His career goals-against average currently stands at 1.02, the third-best mark in program history.
Boen and the Scarlet Raptors play a 4 p.m. non-conference game Wednesday at Penn State-Abington.
