Watson leads Scarlet Raptors at Widener meet

CHESTER, Penn. (Jan. 25, 2025) – The Rutgers University-Camden indoor track team completed its two-day competition in the Winter Evening Invite by sending four throwers to Widener University here Saturday.
 
Sophomore Dyheim Watson competed in a pair of men's events, finishing 24th of 61 in the shot put with a PR of 12.22 meters and placing 17th of 47 in the weight throw (13.08 meters). His old PR in the shot put was 11.20 meters at the NYC Gotham Cup Jan. 17.
 
In the women's competition, both freshman Deontae Wilson and senior Francis Hill competed in the shot put. Wilson set a PR of 10.74 meters (passing the old PR of 10.26 meters set at the Bow-Tie Invitational December 7) to finish 14th out of 50 athletes. Hill placed 32nd with a shot put of 9.03 meters.
 
Mya Cabanas Montero, a sophomore academically with freshman eligibility in track, finished 48th of 50 in the weight throw with a distance of 8.06 meters.
 
Rutgers-Camden will split its team again in two weeks, with some athletes going to the Fastrack National Invite at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Feb. 7, while the remainder of the team will compete in the Frank Colden Invitational at Ursinus College on Feb. 8.
