CAMDEN, N.J. (Oct. 20, 2025) – Junior libero Mia Owens (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) has been one of the engines that has sparked the Rutgers University-Camden volleyball team throughout her three-year career with the Scarlet Raptors.

Owens was recognized for her accomplishments Monday when the New Jersey Athletic Conference honored her as its Women's Volleyball Player of the Week.

Owens played in all 13 sets during the Scarlet Raptors' three matches last week, collecting 70 digs, 14 assists and six aces. She had 24 digs, eight assists and four aces against New Jersey City University on Tuesday and had a big day in a tri-match at Wilkes University on Saturday, notching 18 digs, three assists and one ace against Wilkes and 28 digs, three assists and one ace against Hood College.

It has been a big year for Owens, who passed the 1,000-dig milestone for her career on October 9 and was named Rutgers-Camden's Raptor of the Week on October 13. She has since hiked her career total to 1,121 digs, fifth on the program's career list, and needs only 14 digs tomorrow night against William Paterson University to move into fourth place in Rutgers-Camden history.

For the season, Owens owns 429 digs, already the eighth-highest single-season total in program history, with six regular-season matches still to play. She also owns the 12th-highest total (381 digs in 2024) and 18th-highest total (311 digs in 2023)  in program history.

In addition to her team-leading total in digs, Owens also has a team-high 37 service aces this season, while adding 65 assists and four kills. For her career, she has played in 276 sets over 74 matches, adding 132 assists, 69 service aces and nine kills to her impressive total of digs.

In addition to her three volleyball letters at Rutgers-Camden, Owens also earned a softball letter with the Scarlet Raptors in 2024.

A Business Marketing major at Rutgers-Camden with a minor in Health Sciences, Owens also is Dean's List student who has earned a berth on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll during all four of her full semesters on campus. During the 2025 spring semester, she was one of only 41 athletes on the 180-member AD Honor Roll to post a perfect 4.0 GPA.

A standout athlete during her scholastic days at Williamstown High School, Owens earned four varsity letters in both volleyball and softball for the Braves. She was a two-time All-Conference First Team volleyball player who led Williamstown to a pair of state championships and one Tournament of Champions title. She also captured All-South Jersey honors.

In softball, Owens earned All-Conference First Team recognition as a senior at Williamstown High School after capturing All-Conference Second Team honors during both her sophomore and junior years.
