Owens earns All-NJAC volleyball recognition

CAMDEN, NJ (Nov. 12, 2025) – Junior libero Mia Owens (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) had another stellar season for the Rutgers University-Camden volleyball team this year and as a result, Owens earned all-conference recognition when the New Jersey Athletic Conference Volleyball Team was announced today.
 
Owens captured All-NJAC Honorable Mention after a season in which she led the team with 536 digs, 4.47 digs per set, 56 service aces and 0.47 aces per set. She played in 120 of the team's 121 sets and added 71 assists and five kills.

Her 536 digs were the fourth-highest single-season total in program history, her 120 sets tied for the sixth-highest mark, her 56 aces rank eighth on the single-season charts and her 4.47 digs per set are the ninth-highest season total.
 
Among her memorable performances was a match against Keystone College on Oct. 30 when she collected nine service aces, tied for the fourth-highest amount in program history for a three-set match. She had 25 digs in a five-set match against Gwynedd Mercy University (Oct. 9), allowing her to become only the sixth player in program history to reach the 1,000-dig milestone for her career.
 
Overall, Owens had double-digit digs in 27 of her 30 matches, including 13 with 20 or more digs. She had a high of 28 digs in a four-set match against Hood College (Oct. 18). On five occasions she notched four or more aces in a match.
 
Owens was named Rutgers-Camden's Raptor of the Week on Oct. 13 and was recognized as the NJAC Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 20.
 
A three-year Raptor volleyball letterwinner, Owens has led the Scarlet Raptors in digs during every season of her career, including 311 in 2023, 381 in 2024 and 536 this year. In 82 career matches (305 sets), she has 1,228 digs, the fourth-highest total in program history.
 
In addition to her three Rutgers-Camden volleyball letters, Owens also earned a letter with the 2024 Scarlet Raptor softball team.
 
A Business Marketing major with a Health Sciences minor, Owens is a Dean's List student who has earned a berth on the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director's Honor Roll during all four of her full semesters on campus. She was one of only 41 athletes on the 180-member 2025 Spring AD Honor Roll to earn a perfect 4.0 GPA.
 
During her scholastic career at Williamstown High School, Owens captured four varsity letters apiece in volleyball and softball. She was a two-time All-Conference First Team volleyball player who led the Braves to two state championships and a Tournament of Champions title. She captured All-South Jersey and Tournament MVP honors in volleyball. In softball, Owens was an All-Conference First Team player as a senior after earning All-Conference Second Team honors during both her sophomore and junior years. She also was an Honor Roll student at Williamstown High School.
