CAMDEN, N.J. (Nov. 25, 2025) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's basketball team scored the first 17 points of the game and went on to defeat Rutgers University-Newark, 69-44, in the New Jersey Athletic Conference opener for both teams here Tuesday night.
The Scarlet Raptors won for the fourth time in five games, raising their record to 4-3 overall and 1-0 in NJAC play. Newark, which saw its two-game winning streak snapped, fell to 2-4 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
Newark holds a 45-37 lead in the all-time series, but Rutgers-Camden has won four straight games and five of its last six against the Scarlet Raiders.

The Scarlet Raptors put five players in the scoring column on their way to a 17-0 lead late in the first quarter, led by five points apiece from sophomore forward

Hope Goodwine. Newark finally broke the run with a foul shot by senior guard Raihanna Abdus-Salaam.
By the end of the first quarter the Scarlet Raptors held a 21-4 lead and they held a 33-13 advantage at halftime.
Rutgers-Newark rallied in the third quarter, outscoring the Scarlet Raptors, 24-14. The Scarlet Raiders cut their deficit to 10 points on three occasions, including a 47-37 score entering the fourth quarter. Rutgers-Camden outscored Rutgers-Newark, 22-7, in the final frame.
Edmundo paced the team with a game-high 16 points, while adding 12 rebounds for a double-double. She also had five assists, four steals and two blocks. Goodwine added 13 points for the Scarlet Raptors, while junior guard/forward
Tamea El had 12 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
Freshman forward
Zairra Galloway collected 11 points, five rebounds and three blocked shots.
Newark received 15 points, five steals and three rebounds from senior guard Sanaa Brodie, while Abdus-Salaam had 13 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Senior guard Quanajah Felder added 11 points, five rebounds and two steals.
Rutgers-Camden shot 27-for-57 from the floor (47.4 percent) and 12-for-14 (85.7) from the line. The Scarlet Raptors also held a 49-31 advantage off the boards.
Rutgers-Newark shot 16-for-58 (27.6) from the floor and 8-for-19 (42.1) from the line.
The Scarlet Raptors return to NJAC action with a 6 p.m. home game against Rowan University on Wednesday, December 3.
