Track team opens competition at NJAC Championships
PHILADELPHIA, Penn. (Feb. 22, 2025) – The Rutgers University-Camden indoor track teams set numerous personal records and had several strong performances on the first day of the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships here Saturday at the University of Pennsylvania's Ott Center.
Sophomore
Dyheim Watson finished 10th of 21 athletes in the men's shot put (12.07 meters), marking the third time this season he has passed 12 meters in the shot put.

In the men's 60-meter hurdles, sophomore
Hector Diaz finished 10th of 16 athletes (8.75).
Junior
Walter Pierce competed in his first four events of the heptathlon, setting three PRs along the way in the six-athlete event. He finished first in the shot put with a PR of 11.36 meters, was third in the high jump (a PR of 1.68 meters) and fifth in the long jump (a PR of 5.42 meters). He also placed fourth in the 60-meter dash (7.46).
On the women's side, freshman
Deontae Wilson led a trio of Scarlet Raptors in the shot put, finishing 15th of 20 (9.74 meters), just ahead of 16th-place senior
Francis Hill (a PR of 9.70 meters).
Junior
Sophia LaPorta paced the Raptor women in the long jump, finishing 12th of 15 (a PR of 4.19 meters), while junior-eligible
Angelina Cellucci led a trio of Raptors in the 60-meter dash, placing 18th of 21 with a PR of 9.23.
The NJAC Indoor Track & Field Championships conclude on Sunday at the University of Pennsylvania.
