Downs named to All-NJAC Men's Basketball Second Team
CAMDEN, N.J. (Feb. 26, 2025) – Rutgers University-Camden junior forward
Cameron Downs (Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton) has been one of the top players in the New Jersey Athletic Conference since his freshman season, when he was named the NJAC Rookie of the Year.
Downs added to his growing list of accomplishments Wednesday when the NJAC announced its all-conference men's basketball teams. Downs was named to the NJAC Second Team for the second consecutive season.

Downs, who added NJAC Honorable Mention to his Rookie of the Year honors during the 2022-23 season, continued his outstanding play this year. He led the Scarlet Raptors in scoring (17.1 ppg), rebounding (7.2 rpg) and assists (46), tied for the team lead in blocked shots (15) and finished third in steals (28).
Along the way, Downs was named Rutgers-Camden's Raptor of the Week four times (Nov. 25, Dec. 16, Feb. 3 and Feb. 17), collected four double-doubles and started all 24 Rutgers-Camden games. He scored in double figures 23 times and had four games with double-digit rebounds. He collected eight games with 20 or more points, while adding three 19-point games. He scored his season high of 26 points against both Montclair State (Dec. 14) and Rowan (Jan. 29).
Downs produced double-doubles against Hunter on Nov. 21 (16 points, 13 rebounds), Montclair State on Dec. 14 (26/10), William Paterson on Jan. 18 (17/12) and The College of New Jersey on Feb. 5 (10/10).
Downs also continued his sharp-shooting from the foul line, going 101-for-141 (.716), including games of 10-for-10, 9-for-9, 8-for-8 and 11-for-12. From Nov. 13-19, he hit 19 consecutive foul shots over three games.
In addition to his NJAC Rookie of the Year and NJAC Honorable Mention as a freshman, Downs also was a three-time NJAC Rookie of the Week. He earned two honors as the NJAC Player of the Week as a sophomore and has captured 11 Rutgers-Camden Raptor of the Week honors over his career.
This season Downs scored 410 points, jumping over the 1,000-point milestone and hiking his career total to 1,206 points. He ranks eighth on the program's career list and with another 400-point season as a senior he will jump to number two.
Downs also ranks fourth in career free throws with 293 and his current free throw percentage of 74.9 is second on the program's all-time list for all players with the NCAA career minimum of 250 successful free throws. The current leader, Brian Streater (1997-99) had a career free throw percentage of 75.1.
For his three-year career, Downs has started all 72 of his games, averaging 16.8 points and 6.2 rebounds.
A member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director's Honor Roll for the 2023 Spring semester, Downs is a Business Management major.
