Rutgers-Camden baseball returns to Top 25
CAMDEN, N.J. (March 18, 2025) – The Rutgers University-Camden baseball program has been among the top Division III teams in the country this season and the Scarlet Raptors' performance was rewarded in the latest national poll.
The Scarlet Raptors have been ranked #19 in the new D3baseball.com Top 25 poll, which was released today. The poll is based on the results of games through Sunday, March 16, when the Scarlet Raptors owned a 10-1 record.
Rutgers-Camden currently sports an 11-2 mark after losing to nationally-ranked Johns Hopkins and beating Ripon in a pair of games yesterday at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. The Scarlet Raptors are off today before returning to action tomorrow against #18-ranked Babson College.
Today's ranking marks the first time the Scarlet Raptors have been in the national Top 25 since April 5, 2016, when they were ranked #25 in the D3baseball.com poll and #27 in the ABCA poll. A week earlier, on March 29, 2016, they were #10 in the D3baseball.com poll and #8 in the ABCA poll.
Before this season, the last time Rutgers-Camden received votes toward a national poll was in 2019 when the Raptors received 10 votes toward the D3baseball.com Pre-season poll.
Rutgers-Camden broke back into the national conversation two weeks ago when it received two votes toward the D3baseball.com Top 25 poll. Last week the Scarlet Raptors climbed to 37 votes before breaking into the poll this week.
Rutgers-Camden already has played three teams that have appeared in the Top 25 or received votes this season, beating then-#15 Cortland, 13-8, on March 9 and posting a 4-2 win over UMass-Boston on Sunday when the Beacons were receiving nine votes toward the poll. The Raptors lost to then-#3 Johns Hopkins, 9-4, on Monday.
Johns Hopkins has since climbed to #2 nationally in today's D3baseball.com Top 25 poll and is one of nine teams on the Scarlet Raptors' schedule that is currently ranked or receiving votes. The poll also includes #7 Denison, which faces the Raptors on Friday, #10 Kean, #13 Rowan, #18 Babson (Wednesday's opponent), and four teams that are receiving votes: Keystone (26 votes), Cortland (23), UMass-Boston (8) and Ursinus (1).
