Romond, Murphy, Joseph earn All-NJAC Baseball honors
CAMDEN, N.J. (May 2, 2025) – The Rutgers University-Camden baseball team produced numerous accomplishments during its run to a New Jersey Athletic Conference playoff berth this season, and the Scarlet Raptors proved on Thursday they still have plenty of highlights left for their post-season run.
With a thrilling ninth-inning rally to defeat top-seeded Kean University in their NJAC opener, the Scarlet Raptors raised their record to 26-15 entering the weekend portion of the conference tournament. Despite an off day on Friday, Rutgers-Camden managed to add to its stellar season as a trio of Raptors were honored when the All-NJAC Baseball Team was announced today.

Frankie Romond (Lumberton, NJ/Rancocas Valley Regional) was named to the NJAC First Team, designated hitter/first baseman
Jack Murphy (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) earned NJAC Second Team honors and left fielder
Ryan Joseph (Winslow Township, NJ/Camden County Institute of Technology) captured NJAC Honorable Mention. The all-conference honors were the first for Romond and Joseph, while Murphy also earned NJAC Honorable Mention in 2022.

Romond and Murphy served as two of the Scarlet Raptors' four team captains this season, while also tying for the team lead with 12 multiple-RBI games.
Romond, a senior academically, has junior eligibility in baseball after missing the entire 2024 season with injuries. He bounced back in a big way in 2025, leading the team in hitting (.377), hits (57), triples (4), home runs (8), total bases (102), slugging (.675) and on-base percentage (.443). He placed second in doubles (13) and RBIs (42), while tying for second in runs scored (37). He led the Raptors with 16 multiple-hit games.
Romond started all 38 of his games, and in the last 15 contests he fashioned an eight-game hitting streak from April 13-19 (17-for-32, .531) and a five-game streak from April 22-26 (12-for, 21, .571). The five-game streak earned him honors on April 28 at Rutgers-Camden's Raptor of the Week.
On April 4 against The College of New Jersey, Romond hit a home run for his 100th career hit. His big season included a pair of five-hit games and two six-RBI contests, with the first one coming against Gwynedd Mercy on Feb. 25 when he went 5-for-5 with a double, a triple, three runs, six RBIs and two stolen bases. He went 3-for-6 with a double, triple and home run against nationally-ranked Cortland on March 9, scoring two runs and driving home six. He was 5-for-6 with a double, three runs and one RBI against nationally-ranked Rowan on April 14.
Romond has appeared in 115 games over his three-year playing career at Rutgers-Camden, starting 109, and compiling a .331 batting average with 133 hits, 88 runs and 93 RBIs. He has 24 doubles, nine triples and nine home runs in his career. Over the course of his career, he has been a three-time Rutgers-Camden Raptor of the Week, has collected a trio of five-hit games and tied a single-game program record with two triples against Delaware Valley on Feb. 23, 2023.
A Business Management major at Rutgers-Camden, Romond is a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), is a Dean's List student and a two-time NJAC Academic Honorable Mention honoree. He is a six-time member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director's Honor Roll and was one of only 26 athletes on the 142-member 2022 Spring AD Honor Roll to post a 4.0 GPA.
A four-year baseball letterman at Rancocas Valley Regional High School, Romond was a team captain, the team's MVP and a Carpenter Cup team member. He captured All-Conference First Team and All-Group IV Second Team recognition and was an Honor Roll student.
Murphy, a graduate student who returned for his final season of eligibility this year, has fashioned a record-breaking career at Rutgers-Camden. He is the program's all-time leader in games (178), doubles (48) and RBIs (148), while tying for the career lead with 21 home runs. He ranks second in program history in runs scored (123), third in at bats (592), walks (70), HBP (41) and total bases (293), is tied for fifth in hits (176) and tied for sixth in sacrifice flies (8). He owns a .297 career batting average.
Murphy set the team's single-season record for doubles with his 17th two-bagger on Thursday, clearing the bases in the ninth inning to give Rutgers-Camden the lead in its eventual 7-4 playoff victory at Kean. He also is tied for the single-season home run mark with nine, coming in 2022 when he earned his first All-NJAC honor.
He has been a three-time Rutgers-Camden Raptor of the Week, a two-time NJAC Player of the Week and also earned NJAC Rookie of the Week honors during the abbreviated Covid 19 season of 2020.
In addition to his offensive numbers, Murphy also has appeared in 29 games on the mound, starting 19, during his career. He worked 112.2 innings, posting a 4-6 mark and a 4.07 ERA.
This season Murphy leads the team in doubles (17), RBIs (43) and sacrifice flies (6), while placing second in batting (.345), hits (49), total bases (73), HBP (8) and slugging (.514). He is tied for second on the team with two triples and has a current streak of 14 games reaching base safely, tied for the longest on the team this season. Murphy fashioned a pair of seven-game hitting streaks during the year, going 11-for-25 (.440) from March 22-April 4 and 11-for-28 (.393) from April 13-19.
Murphy was named the NJAC Player of the Week and Rutgers-Camden's Raptor of the Week on March 10.
A four-year baseball letterman at West Deptford High School, Murphy was a Finance major with a minor in Economics as a Rutgers-Camden undergraduate. He was a four-time NJAC Academic Honorable Mention, a Dean's List student and a 10-time member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director's Honor Roll. He posted a 4.0 GPA in two of those semesters.
Joseph, a sophomore academically who has freshman eligibility, was forced to miss practically the entire 2024 season with injuries, appearing in only three early-season games. He more than made up for lost time this year, hitting .299 in 21 games, while starting 18. He had three doubles, one triple, 14 RBIs and six runs scored, while posting a .373 slugging percentage, nine walks and a .377 on-base percentage. He added one sacrifice and one sacrifice fly.
Joseph made his first career start as the Raptors' designated hitter on March 20 against Saint John's University, but didn't become a full-time starter until April 4, when he went 1-for-3 with a double, one run, one RBI and a stolen base against The College of New Jersey. From that point on, he started 17 of the Raptors' last 19 games in left field, including a win against nationally-ranked Rowan on April 14 in which he went 2-for-5 with a double, a walk and four RBIs. He also went 2-for-5 with one run and three RBIs against Montclair State (April 25) and 3-for-4 with one RBI in the opener of a doubleheader against William Paterson (April 26).
An Accounting major at Rutgers-Camden, Joseph was a baseball and basketball letterman during his scholastic days at the Camden County Institute of Technology. He earned All-Olympic Conference First Team honors as a senior, when he also captured Camden County All-Star and South Jersey All-Star recognition. He was the team's MVP during both his junior and senior seasons.
