Salamanca reaches semifinals of King's College Invitational
WILKES-BARRE, Penn. (Sept. 13-14, 2025) – Freshman
Isan Salamanca reached the semifinals of the King's College Invitational before losing to his opponent from Eastern University in the Flight 6 Singles play here Sunday.
Salamanca was the lone Scarlet Raptor to play Sunday on the second day of the King's College Invitational, which started Saturday morning. He had advanced to the semifinal round with a pair of 8-1 wins on Saturday against opponents from Lycoming and Wilkes before dropping a 6-3, 6-4 match in the semifinals Sunday.
In Saturday's other action, freshman
Max Cabida went 1-1 in the Flight 1 Singles competition, posting an 8-5 win over Misericordia before losing, 2-8, against Muhlenberg. In Flight 2 Singles, junior
Julian Pinder dropped a 3-8 decision against Lebanon Valley, while the Raptors lost 8-0 decisions at both the Flight 4 Singles (junior
John Brady against Muhlenberg) and Flight 5 Singles (senior
Christopher Abacan against Wilkes). The Scarlet Raptors didn't have a player in Flight 3 Singles, allowing Penn College to win in a walkover.
In doubles play, the Scarlet Raptors team of Cabida and Pinder won their first match over Misericordia, 7-6 (10-8) in Flight 1 before losing, 5-7, against Muhlenberg. In Flight 2 Doubles, the Raptors didn't field a team, so Wilkes won in a walkover. In Flight 3 Doubles, Abacan and Salamanca lost, 2-6, against Wilkes.
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Friday with a 3:30 p.m. match at Cairn University.
