Track team has stellar day at Frank Colden Invitational

COLLEGEVILLE, PA (Feb. 7, 2026) – Junior Dyheim Watson had another outstanding meet in the weight throw and shot put as the Rutgers University-Camden track and field teams wrapped up a busy weekend here Saturday at the Frank Colden Invitational, hosted by Ursinus College.
 
Watson finished eighth out of 39 in the weight throw (14.55 meters), while placing 13th of 49 in the shot put (12.52 meters, tying his PR set Saturday at the Fastrack National Invite). Sophomore Emmanuel Richardson was 32nd in the weight throw (a PR of 10.11 meters), while freshman Muhammad Elijah Samad-Muhammad placed 36th in the weight throw – setting a PR of 8.99 meters in his first competition in the event – and 40th in the shot put (a PR of 9.22 meters). Freshmen Michael Hawkins and Monroe Hall placed 26th (11.00 meters) and 37th (9.80 meters), respectively in the shot put.
 
In the women's throwing events, freshman Arianna Lalli set a PR of 10.73 meters to finish 22nd of 39 in the weight throw, while senior Kayla Franklin was 24th (10.28 meters), junior Mya Cabanas Montero finished 29th (a PR of 9.83 meters) and freshman Asha Pensa Johnson placed 31st (a PR of 9.44 meters). In the shot put, Franklin placed fifth of 51 (11.58 meters), while Pensa Johnson was 14th (a PR of 10.66 meters), Lalli was 41st (7.38 meters) and freshman Talia Thomasson was 50th (a PR of 5.61 meters). Thomasson also finished 15th of 25 in the 60-meter hurdles (10.93) and 23rd of 43 in the 800-meter run (a PR of 2:44.10).
 
Freshman Jamir Driggins qualified for the finals of the 60-meter hurdles by finishing fourth of 29 in the preliminaries (8.86) and then placed fifth of eight in the finals (8.82).
 
In the preliminaries for the men's 60-meter dash, freshman Eric Lei led the Raptors in the 97-man field, posting a PR of 7.27. Driggins finished 67th (7.81), while both freshmen Erbin Xue (72nd, 7.83) and Mekhai Gaskin (83rd, 8.08) posted PR times.
 
Freshman Joseph Simone attempted the long jump for the first time to set his PR of 4.60 meters, finishing 29th of 33. Simone also finished 35th of 51 in the 400-meter dash (a PR of 57.84), while freshmen Adedotun Owoseni and Jonathan Gomez finished 41st and 48th, respectively, in times of 59:37 and 1:02.76.
 
The Scarlet Raptors had a huge representation in the 88-athlete field of the men's 200-meter dash, with almost all of them setting their indoor PR. Sophomore David Machado finished 21st (a PR of 24.24), Lei was 27th (a PR of 24.41), Simone was 73rd (a PR of 26.47), Owoseni placed 76th (a PR of 26.79), freshman Erin Xue finished 77th (a PR of 26.84), Gomez was 83rd (27.08) and Gaskin finished 84th (a PR of 27.49).
 
In the men's mile, freshman Dylan Davies finished 22nd of 43 (a PR of 5:04.68), while junior Angel Chaj placed 37th (5:54.39).
 
Rutgers-Camden will compete in the Widener Indoor Classic next Friday and Saturday.
