Scarlet Raptors' Downs named to D3hoops.com All-Region 4 Second Team
CAMDEN, N.J. (March 16, 2026) – Rutgers-Camden senior forward
Cameron Downs added another honor to his illustrious career when he was named to the D3hoops.com All-Region 4 Second Team today.
Earlier this month Downs was named to the New Jersey Athletic Conference First Team, capping a career that saw him earn All-NJAC honors every season. He was named NJAC Honorable Mention and earned the NJAC Rookie of the Year honor as a freshman and was honored on the NJAC Second Team during both his sophomore and junior seasons.
Downs led the Scarlet Raptors to a 14-12 season and a berth in the ECAC Div. III Men's Basketball Championship semifinals this year. He scored 36 points in a quarterfinal win over McDaniel College for the first post-season win in Rutgers-Camden's NCAA history before being injured in a semifinal loss to eventual champion Keene State.
Downs finished his Rutgers-Camden career playing in 96 games (all starts), tied for the seventh-highest total in program history. He ended with 1,711 points, the second-highest total ever at Rutgers-Camden and also ranks on the career charts with 394 free throws (second), 528 free throw attempts (second), a 74.6 free throw percentage (second), 70 blocked shots (third), 305 field goals (third), 1,140 field goal attempts (fourth), a 53.1 field goal percentage (fourth), 593 rebounds (sixth), a 17.8 scoring average (sixth) and 141 steals (seventh).
Downs was named the NJAC Player of the Week on January 26, marking the third time in his career he captured that award. He also was a three-time NJAC Rookie of the Week as a freshman.
Downs scored his career high of 37 points against Maine Maritime on Nov. 15, helping him earn a berth on Amherst College's Ken Wright '52 All-Tournament Team. That was one of four times he scored over 30 points this season. He notched 20 or more points on 13 occasions.
Downs was named the Rutgers-Camden Raptor of the Week three times this season (Nov. 24, Jan. 5 and Jan. 26). He has been the Raptor of the Week 14 times during his career.
