McCracken earns NJAC Baseball Rookie Pitcher of the Week
CAMDEN, N.J. (March 9, 2026) – Freshman righty
Gabe McCracken (Audubon, NJ/Audubon) made his first collegiate start on the mound for the Rutgers University-Camden baseball team last week and his strong performance earned him honors on Monday as the New Jersey Athletic Conference's Rookie Pitcher of the Week.
McCracken hurled five shutout innings in the Scarlet Raptors' eventual 3-0 win over York College of Pennsylvania on Wednesday. Although he didn't get the decision, he allowed only one hit over his strong outing, without walking a batter. He struck out eight.
His starting performance came on the heels of his collegiate debut, a one-inning relief appearance against Haverford College on Feb. 28.He allowed two hits and one walk, while striking out one in a scoreless outing.
For the season, McCracken has worked six innings, allowing three hits and one walk. He has nine strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA.
A multi-sport letterman at Audubon High School, he captured four varsity letters apiece in baseball and wrestling, while also earning one varsity soccer letter. He was a two-time All-Conference First Team baseball player.
McCracken is a Childhood Development major at Rutgers-Camden who plans to pursue a career in special education or youth education.
McCracken becomes the second Scarlet Raptor in two weeks to earn a baseball honor from the NJAC. Last week sophomore outfielder
Jack Slusarski was named the NJAC Player of the Week.
Rutgers-Camden hosts Centenary College on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. and Widener University on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
