EWING, N.J. (April 18, 2026) – After a long layoff, the Rutgers University-Camden men's tennis team returned to action here Saturday, playing both of its scheduled Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matches.
The Raptors, who hadn't played since March 29 at King's College, dropped a pair of matches against WIAC opponents SUNY-Oneonta and The College of New Jersey, both by 7=0 scores.
The losses dropped the Scarlet Raptors to 2-7 overall and 0-2 in the WIAC. TCNJ, which defeated Oneonta, 7-0, won the WIAC East Division title and will play the West Division winner for the overall WIAC crown.
The Scarlet Raptors close their season with a match at Marymount University on April 28.
Oneonta 7, Rutgers-Camden 0
The Scarlet Raptors brought only five players to Saturday's WIAC doubleheader, so they were forced to forfeit both their third doubles and sixth singles matches. Oneonta won the two doubles matches that were contested as freshman
Max Cabida and junior
Julian Pinder lost at first doubles, 6-1, and freshmen
Isan Salamanca and
Ben Try lost at second doubles, 6-0.
In singles play, Cabida lost at the top spot, 6-0, 6-2, and Try was defeated at second singles, 6-0, 6-0. Pinder lost at third singles, 6-0, 6-0, and junior
John Brady was defeated at fourth singles, 6-2, 6-0. Salamanca was defeated at the fifth flight, 6-1, 6-1.
TCNJ 7, Rutgers-Camden 0
In their second match of the day, the Scarlet Raptors ran into the perennial powerhouse Lions, dropping all of its matches. Cabida and Pinder lost, 6-0, at first doubles and Try and Brady dropped a 6-0 decision at second doubles before TCNJ also won third doubles by forfeit.
Cabida lost to his opponent at first singles, 6-1, 6-0, and the rest of the Raptors were swept in their singles matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores, with Pinder at the second spot, Try playing third singles, Brady at fourth singles and Salamanca at the fifth flight. TCNJ won sixth singles by forfeit.
