Dylan Pino's goal in the 77
th minute was the deciding factor as the Scarlet Raptors of Rutgers-Camden defeated Penn State-Abington 2-1 in the opener for both teams on Tuesday in men's soccer play.
Pino's unassisted goal broke a 1-1 tie as RUC moved to 7-0-1 all-time against Abington.
Nik Grello had a goal in the 17
th minute on an assist by
Willyam Veiga after the Lions scored in the third minute on a Frankie Rafferty goal.
For Rutgers-Camden,
Aleksander Nycz had two saves in the final eight minutes, including one with 1:41 left in the match, to preserve the win. Nycz had five saves in the win, as both teams had ten shots each.
Rutgers-Camden will host the Cialella Soccer Classic this weekend, taking on Ursinus Friday night and Haverford on Saturday. Named for former Rutgers-Camden athlete, coach, and Athletic Director Edward Cialella, the 25th version of the Cialella Soccer Classic features Haverford, Stockton, and Ursinus.
On Saturday, the men's soccer team will host its second annual Naumenko Night. The match honors former men's soccer goalkeeper Julian Naumenko, who tragically passed away in January 2025.
