Biography

Emilio Rodriguez returns to the Rutgers-Camden soccer program after skipping the 2014 season due to numerous academic commitments.
 
Rodriguez has earned two letters with the Rutgers-Camden men’s soccer team (2012 and 2013) and played on a pair of New Jersey Athletic Conference championship squads, serving as a backup to All-American goalie Mike Randall. A fine athlete, he also has earned letters with the Scarlet Raptors’ indoor and outdoor track teams.
 
Soccer 2013: A member of the team that captured its third straight New Jersey Athletic Conference championship, advanced to the NCAA Division III championship game and set a program record with a 23-1-2 record…Served as a backup to senior Mike Randall, who played every minute of every game in goal.
 
Outdoor Track 2013: Competed in four invitationals in the long jump and ran the 100-meter dash in two of them…Finished 17th of 19 in the long jump at the Danny Curran Invitational (March 29) with a jump of 5.19 meters…Had a long jump of 5.15 meters to place 19th of 22 at the Osprey Open (April 6), while adding a 100-meter dash of 13.60 to place 36th of 40…In the New Jersey Invitational (April 13), finished 21st of 24 in the long jump (5.39 meters) and 45th of 47 in the 100-meter dash (13.29), setting two outdoor personal bests…Placed 35th of 43 in the long jump (5.05 meters) at the Lions Invitational (April 27).
 
Indoor Track 2012-13: In his first collegiate track season, competed in four meets, participating in the long jump in each invitational and also running at 55, 60 and 200 meters…Made his track debut in the Bow-Tie Classic (Dec. 1), finishing 48th of 52 at 60 meters (8.36) and 13th of 16 in the long jump (5.24 meters)…Was fifth of 10 in the long jump (5.69 meters) and 33rd of 34 at 55 meters (8.08) at the LVC Invitational (Jan. 26)…Competed in the 60-meter dash (8.40, 46th of 52), the 200-meter dash (28.70, 39th of 43) and the long jump (foul) at the Frank Colden Invitational (Feb. 2)…Closed season at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Feb. 22) when he finished 12th of 16 in the long jump with his indoor personal best of 5.78 meters.
 
Soccer 2012: Played in one game as a goalie for the nationally-ranked Rutgers-Camden men’s soccer team, which won its second consecutive New Jersey Athletic Conference title and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Championships…Recorded one save in 7:02 of playing time during a 5-0 win at New Jersey City University (Oct. 24), contributing to one of the Scarlet Raptors’ 11 shutouts on the season.
 
High School: Earned three varsity soccer letters at East Brunswick High School for Coach Terry McKibben…Helped Bears capture the Greater Middlesex Conference championship and Red Division championship on their way to the state sectional Group 4 title in 2011…Silver Honor Roll for three straight years…Sport Management and Marketing Scholarship…Homeland Security Scholarship.
 
Personal: Christian Emilio Rodriguez…Born June 21, 1994…Served as the team captain the East Brunswick Titans and led that club soccer team to second place in the state cup…Enjoys dancing…Criminal Justice major with a minor in National Security Studies at Rutgers-Camden…Plans to become a federal agent or a sheriff…Emilio is the son of Elaine Espada and Angel L. Rodriguez of East Brunswick.
