Rutgers-Camden Athletics

The most active Rutgers-Camden basketball player to help out with the men’s cross country program during the fall semester, Jonathan Baker-Jernigan competed in three 8K races in October. A transfer whose most recent collegiate basketball experience came at Delaware Valley College during the 2011-12 season, Baker-Jernigan joins the Scarlet Raptors’ program this winter.
 
Cross Country 2015: Made his collegiate cross country debut at the Jack Saint Clair Memorial Invitational (Oct. 10), finishing second on the Scarlet Raptors and 113th of 133 in a time of 39:09.8…Posted his top 8K time of 37:36.61 at the CTC Championships (Oct. 17), placing third on the Raptors and 31st of 34 overall…Closed his cross country season at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (Oct. 31), finishing fourth on the team and 88th of 91 overall in a time of 39:07.09.
 
Pre-Rutgers: Played basketball for two seasons at Mercer County College in 2008-09 and 2010-11…Played at Delaware Valley College during the 2011-12 season,  competing in 24 games, starting 11…Averaged 4.6 points and 2.4 rebounds, while adding 36 assists and 22 steals…Shot 35-for-97 (.361) from the floor, including 24-for-62 (.387) from three-point range…Shot 17-for-27 (.630) from the foul line…Notched his high of 20 points (6-for-9 from the floor, including 5-for-6 on treys) and added a high of five steals against Berkeley College (Jan. 23, 2012)…Also scored 14 points against Kean University (Nov. 15, 2011) and 13 against Misericordia (Jan. 21, 2012)…Had a high of five assists at Penn State-Mont Alto (Nov. 19, 2011).
 
High School: Attended the Burlington County Institute of Technology in Medford, graduating in 2008…Varsity basketball letterman from 2006-08 for Coach Nick Powell.
 
Personal: Born December 17, 1990… Nicknamed “JB”…Hobbies and interests include working with youth sports, playing basketball, outdoor activities, zip lining and roller skating…Psychology major at Rutgers-Camden…Following graduation, plans to continue coaching and working on his resume in Burlington County at Medford Tech, along with Team Domination…Jonathan is the son of Marva and John Jernigan of Willingboro.
