Rutgers-Camden Athletics

John DeSantis gave Rutgers-Camden a promising glimpse of its future at first base as he appeared in 12 games during his freshman season, starting six, and showing solid production with six RBIs. A Dean’s List student as well, DeSantis was named to the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the Fall 2016, Spring 2017 and Fall 2017 semesters.
 
Baseball 2017:  Appeared in 12 games, starting six…Hit .267 with two doubles, four runs and six RBIs…Had a .333 slugging percentage and a .353 on-base percentage…Walked three times and was hit by one pitch…Defensively at first base, had 79 putouts, two assists and eight double plays, making three errors for a .964 fielding percentage…Entered the second game of a doubleheader against Rutgers-Newark (April 8) as a pinch-hitter in the fourth inning and finished the day playing first base and going 1-for-3 with an RBI walk and a run scored in the seventh inning and a two-run single in the eighth for his first walk, first run, first RBI and first collegiate hit…Added four putouts in that game…Made his first collegiate start at Rowan University (April 14), playing first base and notching 12 putouts…Had his finest game at Stockton University (April 21), going 4-for-5 with two doubles, three runs and three RBIs, while collecting eight putouts at first base…Went 2-for-4 with 13 putouts in his next game, the nightcap of a doubleheader against Montclair State University (April 23), giving him a 6-for-9 (.667) performance in back-to-back contests…Went 1-for-3 with his high of 16 putouts against Kean University (April 28).

High School: Earned two varsity baseball letters at Seneca High School for Coach Jay Donoghue…Honor Roll student.
 
Personal: Born October 13, 1997….Enjoys “hanging with friends, going to the beach and playing video games”…Dual Accounting and Finance major with an Economics minor at Rutgers-Camden…Plans to become a Chartered Financial Analyst and eventually run and own a business with his sister…John is the son of Carl and Victoria DeSantis of Southampton.
