Biography

Nicole Martin enters the final year of her stellar Rutgers-Camden lacrosse career, where she already ranks among the program’s all-time leaders in numerous categories. A transfer who played her freshman season at the University of New Haven, Martin captured New Jersey Athletic Conference First Team honors in 2017, becoming only the second Rutgers-Camden lacrosse player ever to earn a berth on the All-Conference First Team.
 
In only two seasons, Martin has compiled 66 goals (sixth on the Raptors’ career list), 35 assists (third) and 101 points (fifth). She also ranks fifth in career ground balls (85) and draw controls (78), is third in caused turnovers (50, only two shy of the record), and is sixth in both shots (155) and shots on goal (110). Entering her senior season, Martin currently ranks as the program’s all-time leader in assists per game (1.13), is second in points per game (3.25) ground balls per game (2.74), draw controls per game (2.51) and caused turnovers per game (1.61). She also ranks third in goals per game (2.13), while her shot percentage of .426 ranks sixth on the career list for all players with a minimum of 100 shots.
 
In addition to her season with the lacrosse program, Martin ran in one meet for the Scarlet Raptors’ cross country program in 2016.
 
In addition to her athletic talents, Martin was named to the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the Fall 2016 semester.
 
Lacrosse 2017:  NJAC First Team, becoming only the second Scarlet Raptor ever to achieve that honor…NJAC Offensive Player of the Week (March 13)…Started all 16 games for the Scarlet Raptors…Led the team in goals (33), assists (14) and points (47)…Took a team-high 79 shots, with 57 on goal…Had a .418 shot percentage and a .722 shots on goal percentage…Finished second on the team in caused turnovers (29) and third in both ground balls (44) and draw controls (31)…Her 33 goals tied with her own mark from 2016 as the ninth-highest single-season total in program history…Also ranked among the single-season program leaders with her 29 caused turnovers (second, one shy of Kaitlyn Ennis’ new single-season record), 14 assists (tied for fourth), 44 ground balls (tied for fifth), 79 shots (seventh), 57 shots on goal (seventh) and 47 points (eighth)…Set a program single-game record against Rosemont College (March 2) with six caused turnovers, a mark tied later in the season by teammate Victoria Heifet…Among other single-game marks, she had five caused turnovers against Stockton on April 19 (tied for the third-best mark in program history, one behind the record she shares)…Had five assists against Cedar Crest April 14 (second on the program’s single-game chart)…Notched back-to-back goals only 14 seconds apart against Delaware Valley (March 28), tied for the second-fastest pair of goals by one player in program history…Also combined with Taylor Reader for goals 14 seconds apart against Rosemont (March 2), tied for the seventh-fastest goal combination by two players in program history…In addition to her record six caused turnovers against Rosemont (March 2), also had two goals, two assists, seven ground balls and three draw controls in that game as Rutgers-Camden posted a 15-2 win for the first season-opening victory in program history…Had her season high of four goals in back-to-back games against Stockton (April 19) and Ramapo (April 22), while adding five caused turnovers, four ground balls and one draw control in the Stockton game…Compiled five other games scoring three goals in contests against DeSales (March 11), Delaware Valley (March 28), Neumann (March 30), Manhattanville (April 1) and Gwynedd Mercy (April 27)…Notched her season high of seven points against Cedar Crest (April 14), scoring two goals and adding five assists…In addition to her seven ground balls against Rosemont (March 2), collected seven ground balls in the Gwynedd Mercy game (April 27)…Had her season high of six draw controls against Cedar Crest (April 14) and notched five draw controls against Penn State-Abington (March 26)…Overall, compiled seven games with three or more goals and 10 with two or more goals…Had four or more points in eight of her 16 games…Scored at least one point in 14 of her 16 games.
 
Cross Country 2016: Ran one race with the cross country program to help out the team at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships Oct. 29…Finished fourth on the team and 80th of 89 overall in a time of 29:53.57.
 
Lacrosse 2016: Started all 15 games for the Scarlet Raptors and led the team in assists (21) and caused turnovers (21)…Tied for the team lead in points (54) and game-winning goals (2)…Second on the team in goals (33) and ground balls (41)…Third on the Raptors in draw controls (47)…Led the New Jersey Athletic Conference in assists per game (1.40)…Tied for fifth in the NJAC in points per game (3.60)…Ninth in the NJAC in goals per game (2.20)…Named Rutgers-Camden’s Raptor of the Week on March 28…Her 21 assists set a single-season program record and her 21 caused turnovers tied for third on the program’s single-season charts…Her 41 ground balls are tied for fourth on the program’s single-season list and her 47 draw controls rank seventh…Had four assists against both Wilkes University (March 19) and Delaware Valley University (March 22), tied for the second-highest single-game total in program history…Also had a three-assist game against Neumann University (March 31)…Collected four goals on four occasions, coming against Rosemont College (March 7), Penn State-Abington (March 24), Neumann University (March 31) and Ramapo College (April 23)…Collected her three seven-point games in a span of four contests, March 19-31, with three goals and four assists in back-to-back games against Wilkes University (March 19) and Delaware University (March 22) and a four-goal, three-assist game against Neumann University (March 31)…Overall, had multiple-goal games in 10 contests, including seven of three or more goals…Had five multiple-assist games, all coming in consecutive contests from March 19-April 4, with a trio of them consisting of three or more assists…Had nine games with multiple ground balls, including seven against Penn State-Abington (March 24) and a career-high nine against Neumann University (March 31)…Collected six games of two or more caused turnovers, with a high of four against Delaware Valley University (March 22)…Her high of seven draw controls came in her first Rutgers-Camden game, a March 4 contest at Lycoming College…Added six draw controls in her next game against Rosemont College (March 7) and against Delaware Valley University (March 22)….Had five draw controls against Wilkes University (March 19)…Overall, compiled 11 contests with multiple draw controls, including six with four or more.
 
Pre-Rutgers: Played lacrosse for the Division II University of New Haven in 2015…Played eight games, notching two ground balls and one caused turnover for the Chargers.
 
High School: Multi-sport star at Delran High School who played lacrosse, soccer and cross country for the Bears…Team lacrosse captain as a senior…Second Team Burlington County All-Star in cross country…Honor Roll member.
