Biography

After missing most of the 2016 season due to an injury, Jessica Mayer made a stellar comeback in 2017, finishing fourth on the team in both goals (23) and points (27).
 
Mayer has started all of her 34 career games at Rutgers-Camden, collecting 32 goals, six assists, 38 points, 53 ground balls, 22 draw controls and 20 caused turnovers.
 
Mayer also served on Rutgers-Camden’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee during the 2016-17 scholastic year.
 
Lacrosse 2017: Started all 16 games for the Scarlet Raptors…Finished fourth on the team in both goals (23) and points (27)…Added four assists…Took 65 shots, with 43 on goal for a .662 shots on goal percentage…Collected 18 ground balls, 10 caused turnovers and seven draw controls…Contributed three goals to the Scarlet Raptors’ first season-opening win in program history, a 15-2 victory over Rosemont College (March 2)…Had one goal and collected two ground balls – the first of seven games with two ground balls during the season – against Immaculata University (March 22)…Exploded for five goals, on only seven shots, and added a caused turnover and two ground balls in an 11-10 win over Delaware Valley University (March 28)…Collected two goals, including her first career game winner, and added one assist against Cedar Crest (April 14)…Notched a career-high three draw controls and added one goal, one caused turnover and two ground balls against Stockton University (April 19)…Had two goals, one assist and one caused turnover against Ramapo College (April 22)…Had two goals, two ground balls and two caused turnovers in a 21-10 win over Gwynedd Mercy (April 27)…Closed the season against Montclair State University (April 29) by collecting one of the Raptors’ two goals, while adding two ground balls and one caused turnover.
 
Lacrosse 2016:  Before a season-ending injury, started the Scarlet Raptors’ first four games…Had seven goals and one assist for eight points…Took 14 shots, 13 on goal for a .929 percentage…Notched seven ground balls, one caused turnover and four draw controls…In the season opener at Lycoming College (March 4), had two draw controls and one shot on goal…Collected her first career hat trick with three goals at Rosemont College (March 7), while adding two ground balls and one caused turnovers…Broke her short-lived career scoring high against Gwynedd Mercy University (March 10), notching four goals and one assist for five points…In that game she put all eight of her shots on goal, notched five ground balls and added two draw controls…Was sidelined in a game against Elizabethtown College (March 15).
 
Lacrosse 2015: Played in 14 games, starting all 14…Collected two goals and one assist for three points…Took 18 shots, 12 on goal…Notched 28 ground balls, nine caused turnovers and 11 draw controls…Made her collegiate debut against Immaculata University (Feb. 28), taking six shots (four on goal), notching four ground balls and three caused turnovers…Collected her first career assist against Lycoming (March 14), while adding two ground balls, two caused turnovers and one draw control…Scored her first goal against Stockton University (April 7), while also adding one draw control…Had a career high with seven ground balls against Neumann University (April 13)…Notched one goal, five ground balls and one draw control at Kean University (April 18)…Had three ground balls, one caused turnover and two draw controls against Rowan University (April 21)…Notched two draw controls against Montclair State University (April 25).
 
High School: Earned three varsity field hockey letters and one lacrosse letter at Cinnaminson High School…First Team All-County in field hockey as a senior…Played lacrosse for Coach Laura Rickus.
