Biography

A three-time All-New Jersey Athletic Conference player during his brilliant four-year career at Rutgers-Camden, Darnell Brown completed his senior year being named the NJAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year and adding numerous other accolades. In 73 career games with the Scarlet Raptors, he started 53, including 35 out of 38 during his final two seasons, when he earned NJAC First Team honors both years.
 
In addition to his outstanding defensive abilities, Brown also was a threat offensively, producing 11 goals and three assists for 25 career points. Two of his goals were game winners.
 
Soccer 2019: Despite battling injuries, started all 15 of his games…Finished fourth on the team in goals (3) and points (7)…Added one assist…Notched one game-winning goal…Took five shots, putting four on goal for an .800 percentage…Named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Year…NJAC First Team…ECAC First Team…United Soccer Coaches Div. III All-South Atlantic Region Third Team…Played a key role in helping the Scarlet Raptors post nine shutouts and a 1.05 team goals-against average…Collected his lone assist on the game-winning goal by Skyler Diggs in a 2-0 victory over the College of Staten Island (Sept. 7)…Notched two goals, including the game winner in overtime, for a 3-2 victory against Haverford (Sept. 25)…Scored a goal to help the Raptors beat Rutgers-Newark, 3-2 (Oct. 12)…Played the full game in 10 of his 15 contests, including the last seven…Played a full 110 minutes against both William Paterson (Oct. 26) and Stockton (Nov. 2).
 
Soccer 2017: New Jersey Athletic Conference First Team…Named Rutgers-Camden’s team MVP…Played in 23 games, starting 20…Had six goals, including one game winner, to finish fourth on the team in scoring with 12 points…Took 14 shots, 11 on goal for a .786 percentage…Scored one goal in a 6-2 win over Keystone (Sept. 2)…Tallied a goal in three straight games from Oct. 11-16, including a 3-2 loss against Rowan (Oct. 11), a 2-1 loss at Kean (Oct. 14) and a 2-1 win at Swarthmore (Oct. 16)…His goal against Swarthmore, scored with a header at 73:50, proved to be the game-winning tally…Scored the Raptors’ lone goal in a 2-1 loss against Stockton (Oct. 25)…Tallied a goal in the Raptors’ 3-2 ECAC championship game loss against Lebanon Valley College (Nov. 19).
 
Soccer 2016: Played in 17 games, starting 11…Notched two goals and one assist for five points, tying for seventh on the team in scoring…Captured NJAC Honorable Mention recognition…Played in five of the team’s seven shutouts, starting three…Took 24 shots, 11 on goal for a .458 percentage…Notched his first career goal and added an assist in the Raptors’ 4-2 victory over NJAC rival Kean University (Oct. 15), playing the entire 90 minutes…Also started and played 90 minutes during a 0-0 double-overtime tie against Swarthmore (Oct. 19)…Started 1-0 shutouts against Alvernia (Sept. 7) and Cabrini (Sept. 14)…Also contributed to a 4-0 shutout against Farmingdale State (Sept. 10) and a 3-0 victory over Rutgers-Newark (Sept. 17).
 
Soccer 2015: Played in 18 games, starting seven…Missed several games due to an injury…Notched one assist…Took eight shots, two on goal…Made his debut playing 45 minutes in the Raptors’ season-opening 9-0 shutout over Rosemont College (Sept. 1)…Made his first career start in a 1-0 loss at Salisbury University (Sept. 6)…Contributed to five of the Scarlet Raptors’ eight shutouts, starting three of them, including a 0-0 double-overtime tie against Christopher Newport University (Sept. 13), a team ranked No. 1 nationally at the time…Started and collected his first career assist in a 2-0 victory at Rutgers-Newark (Oct. 24), assisting the eventual game-winning goal by Ramadan Bayyan…Started his last four games of the season, including both NCAA tournament games for the Raptors against Eastern University (a 2-1 win, Nov. 14) and SUNY-Oneonta (a 2-0 loss, Nov. 15).
 
High School: Soccer letterman at Cinnaminson High School for Coach Jason Meile…Captured All-South Jersey First Team honors from both the Philadelphia Inquirer and Courier-Post newspapers as a senior…Earned Soccer Coaches Association of New Jersey First Team South Sectional All-State recognition…All-State Second Team.
