Biography

The New Jersey Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year and a D3baseball.com All-America Second Team honoree in 2018, Ian Scheidemann returns for his final season with the Scarlet Raptors. He already has been named to the D3baseball.com Pre-Season All-America Second Team.

A transfer who played his freshman season at Salisbury University, Scheidemann has placed his name among the Rutgers-Camden career leaders in numerous pitching categories, despite playing only two seasons with the Scarlet Raptors. Entering his senior season, Scheidemann ranks third in ERA among all Rutgers-Camden pitchers with a minimum of 100 career innings pitched (2.18). He is tied for fourth in career shutouts with two (one shy of the three-way tie for first place) and is tied for seventh in complete games (8). He has pitched 148-2/3 innings at Rutgers-Camden, 15th on the program’s career list and only 51-1/3 innings shy of becoming the sixth pitcher in program history to reach 200 innings. The other five accomplished the feat over a four-year career.

Scheidemann also owns 12 career wins at Rutgers-Camden, tied for ninth on the all-time program list, and only six shy of the record held by Matt Ulmer (2002-05).

Among Scheidemann’s numerous impressive stats is his strikeout to walk ratio: in 148-2/3 career innings, he has struck out 91 batters and walked only 16, a mark of 5.69:1. In his two-year Scarlet Raptor career, he owns a 1.03 WHIP, including a 0.91 mark in 2018.
