Biography

A stellar defensive center fielder, Bobby Romano played a huge role in the success of the 2014 Scarlet Raptors during his first season since transferring to Rutgers-Camden. The former Vineland High School star returns to the Scarlet Raptors’ outfield for the 2015 season.
 
Baseball 2014: Started all 44 games for the Scarlet Raptors, one of only three players to do so…Helped team earn the first NCAA tournament berth in program history…Hit .261 (40-for-153) with 26 runs, 22 RBIs, six doubles, one triple and one home run…Had 16 walks, three HBP and a team-leading 17 stolen bases (in 20 attempts)…Added two sacrifice flies and one sacrifice…Had 137 putouts, two assists, one double play and two errors for a .986 fielding percentage…Had 10 multiple-hit games, including three contests with three hits apiece…Had four multiple-RBI games…Notched five-game hitting streaks from March 31-April 5 (6-for-17, .353) and April 19-26 (9-for-18, .500)…Also added a pair of four-game hitting streaks…Made Rutgers-Camden debut against Neumann (March 11), going 1-for-3 with a double, one walk, one stolen base, one RBI and three runs scored…Went 3-for-5 with a double, a stolen base, one RBI and three runs against Alfred State (March 19)…In the nightcap of a doubleheader against Bowdoin (March 21), went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI…Had a 3-for-4 game with two RBIs against Trinity (March 22, Game Two), while adding six putouts in center field…Notched his season high of seven putouts in a win over nationally-ranked Kean University (March 29)…Went 2-for-4 with a triple, one run and three RBIs against Montclair State (April 5, Game One)…Had five two-hit games in a seven-game span from April 19-28, including a 2-for-5 day with a home run, one run and four RBIs at Rutgers-Newark (April 24)…In that game he had a RBI single in the second inning and a three-run home run in the ninth.
 
Pre-Rutgers:  Lettered in both baseball and football at Gettysburg College during the 2011-12 scholastic year…Appeared in seven games for the Bullets, hitting .333 (2-for-6) with one run and two RBIs…Also had two sacrifice flies and two putouts in two chances…On the gridiron, played 10 games and made 11 receptions for 185 yards (16.8 average) and two touchdowns…Played baseball at Rowan University in 2013…Appeared in 16 games for the Profs, hitting .200 (1-for-5) with six runs, one double, two RBIs and three stolen bases in as many attempts.
 
High School: Captured three letters apiece in baseball and football at Vineland High School…Played baseball for Coach John Malatesta…First Team All-Cape-Atlantic League outfielder…First Team Atlantic City Press All-Star…NJCBA Sportsmanship Award…Received the National Football Foundation’s South Jersey Chapter Scholar-Athlete Award…Summa Cum Laude…National Honor Society.
