Biography

One of the team leaders during his career at Rutgers-Camden, Thomas Gosse has served as a team captain, been named the Scarlet Raptors’ Most Dedicated Player and earned numerous academic honors. A Dean’s List Student, he captured eight berths on the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll since transferring to the school from Philadelphia University.
 
A fine defensive catcher, Gosse has appeared in 52 games at Rutgers-Camden, including 23 of the Scarlet Raptors’ 27 games in 2021, when he also played at third base. He has posted a .220/.257/.375 slash line at Rutgers-Camden while drawing 19 walks and being hit by eight pitches. He has scored 17 runs and drove home 12 during his career.
 
Academics: Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the 2016 Fall, 2017 Spring, 2018 Spring, 2018 Fall, 2019 Spring, 2019 Fall, 2020 Fall and 2021 Spring semesters…Dean’s List student…One of only 29 athletes on the 151-member 2020 Fall AD Honor Roll to post a perfect 4.0 GPA.
 
Baseball 2021: One of the Scarlet Raptors’ tri-captains, he appeared in 23 games, starting 22…Made 12 starts at catcher and 10 at third base…Hit .200 with 10 runs and six RBIs…Had one double…Tied for second on the team with 11 walks and added five HBP for a .349 on-base percentage…Tied for the club lead with three sacrifices...Second on the team with 86 putouts, while adding 13 assists…Had two double plays and three errors for a .971 fielding percentage…Collected four two-hit games during the season, including a 2-for-3 contest in the season opener at New Jersey City (March 19), while adding his high of 10 putouts…Also went 2-for-4 in games against Montclair State (April 17, Game One), Stockton (April 23) and The College of New Jersey (April 30)…In the TCNJ game, collected three RBIs, while adding two RBIs in the Stockton game…Playing third base, had his season high of three assists against Kean (March 27, Game Two)…Scored three runs and went 1-for-3 with two walks and a sacrifice at Stockton (April 22)…Collected two sacrifices against Rutgers-Newark (May 4) in a New Jersey Athletic Conference playoff victory.
 
Baseball 2020: Appeared in five games, starting four, during the Scarlet Raptors’ season, which was shortened to six games due to the COVID-19 pandemic…Served as one of the Scarlet Raptors’ tri-captains…Led the team with 29 putouts and tied for the club lead with 31 chances, while posting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage…Hit .417 (5-for-12) with two doubles, four runs and four RBIs…Added two HBP and two walks to post a lofty team-leading .563 on-base percentage…His .583 slugging percentage was the third-highest mark among all regulars…After going 0-for-2 with five putouts as the catcher in the Raptors’ season-opening game at Immaculata (Feb. 23), added his first hit in the nightcap of that doubleheader, a pinch-hit RBI single in the sixth inning…Added one putout after entering that game as the Raptors’ catcher…Went 1-for-3 with one run, one HBP and one RBI in the nightcap of a doubleheader against Oneonta (March 1), ripping a RBI double to cap the Raptors’ four-run first inning…Added six putouts and one assist in that game…Had a big game against Ursinus (March 2), going 2-for-3 with a walk, one stolen base and two runs, while adding 12 putouts and one assist defensively…In the final game of the short season, at Neumann (March 9), went 1-for-3 with one run, one walk and a two-run first-inning double…Added five putouts.
 
Baseball 2019: Appeared in 11 games, starting two…Had three runs, two RBIs and one double…Walked five times…Hit .214 with a .286 slugging percentage and a .421 on-base percentage…Defensively, had 31 putouts, one assist, one double play and one error for a .970 fielding percentage…One of the leaders on the team, served as one of the Scarlet Raptors’ team captains…Went 1-for-3 with a double and eight putouts while starting at catcher against Johns Hopkins (March 2)…Went 1-for-1 with three walks, two runs and six putouts against Westminster (March 22), starting at catcher...Notched eight putouts against Montclair State (April 13)…In his final game, April 29 at The College of New Jersey (April 29), went 1-for-3 with one run and two RBIs.
 
Baseball 2018: Named Rutgers-Camden’s Most Dedicated Player…Appeared in nine games, making one start…Went 1-for-10 (.100) with one walk, one HBP and one RBI…Compiled a .250 on-base percentage…Had 16 putouts and one assist in 17 chances for a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage…Collected his season high of four putouts against Moravian College (March 24)…Had three putouts and one assist in his lone start at catcher, while also drawing his lone walk, at York College of Pennsylvania (May 2)…Also had three putouts at Johns Hopkins University (March 3)…Went 1-for-1 – a pinch-hit RBI single – in the eighth inning at Kean University (April 29).
 
Baseball 2017:  Saw action in four games, going 1-for-3 (.333) with six putouts and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage…Had a ninth-inning pinch-hit single against Trinity College (March 16) and then collected two putouts at catcher in the bottom of the frame in his first Raptor appearance…Had two putouts against Suffolk University (March 17)…Had one putout and went 0-for-1 at the plate in his other two games, coming against Ramapo College (April 15, Game Two) and Misericordia University (April 30).
 
Pre-Rutgers: Member of the Philadelphia University baseball program in 2016, but was injured and didn’t play.
 
High School: Three-year varsity baseball letterman at Haddonfield Memorial High School for Coach Bob Bickel…Graduated in 2015.
