Biography
Jazmin Torres capped her stellar four-year Rutgers-Camden lacrosse career during the 2022 season, when she led the team in draw controls and finished third in scoring.
Although she was limited to only 34 career games (all starts) due to the 2020 and 2021 season being cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, Torres still managed to finish second on the program’s all-time list with 129 draw controls, only seven shy of the record. In terms of per game statistics, she easily set the career record with 3.79 draw controls per game. She also holds the Raptors’ single-season and single-game records with 72 and 14 draw controls, respectively.
In addition to her draw controls, Torres finished her career with 44 goals and 15 assists for 59 points. She took 98 career shots, putting 79 on goal for a .806 percentage, while also adding 47 ground balls and 26 caused turnovers.

Lacrosse 2022: Started all 13 Rutgers-Camden games…Finished third on the team in goals (11) and points (15)…Tied for third with four assists…Shared the team lead with one game-winning goal…Led the club with 37 draw controls…Added nine ground balls and six caused turnovers…Collected one goal, one assist, two ground balls, two draw controls and one caused turnover in the Raptors’ season-opening 13-12 win over Eastern (March 2)…Had three goals – including the game winner – and one assist in a 16-11 victory over Delaware Valley (March 14), while adding four draw controls, two ground balls and two caused turnovers…Scored two goals apiece against Bryn Athyn (March 19) and Ramapo (April 23)…In the Ramapo game, collected 10 draw controls, tied for the second-highest single-game total in program history, behind her own record of 14 set in 2019…Notched three straight games with five draw controls apiece, coming against Gwynedd Mercy (March 16), Bryn Athyn and Immaculata (March 22)…Collected single goals in games against Bryn Mawr (March 7), Gwynedd Mercy and Immaculata…In addition to the Eastern and Delaware Valley games, had one assist against both Kean (April 9) and Rowan (April 19).
Lacrosse 2021: Played in four of the Scarlet Raptors’ five games, starting all four…Notched two goals…Tied for first on the team with one assist and tied for second with three points…Led the team with 10 shots and nine shots on goal…Led the team with 10 draw controls…Tied for second on the team with two caused turnovers…Added three ground balls…Scored two of the Raptors’ five goals in a 20-5 season-opening loss against Kean (April 3), while adding two ground balls, one caused turnover and her season high of five draw controls…Had one assist against Montclair State (April 21), while adding two draw controls…Had two draw controls and one caused turnover against Stockton (April 24)…Collected one ground ball and one draw control in the New Jersey Athletic Conference quarterfinal loss at Stockton (April 26).
Cross Country 2020-21: Ran at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (March 20), placing third on the Scarlet Raptors and 32nd of 36 (36:59.1) in the 6K race.
Lacrosse 2020: Started both games during the abbreviated season…Collected two goals and a team-leading three assists for five points…Had four shots, all on goal for a 1.000 percentage…Led the team with 10 draw controls and added one ground ball and one caused turnovers…Played all 120 minutes during the season…In the season opener against Manhattanville (March 7), collected three assists, eight draw controls, one ground ball and one caused turnover…Against Bryn Mawr (March 10), collected two goals and two draw controls.
Lacrosse 2019: Started all 15 games...Finished third on the team with 27 goals, tied for third with seven assists and fourth with 36 points…Took 58 shots, with 47 on goal for an .810 shots-on-goal percentage, the program’s ninth-highest single-season mark for anybody scoring 10 or more goals…Set a single-season program record with 72 draw controls, breaking the mark of 71 set in 2014 by Dorothy Westlake…Second on the team with 17 caused turnovers…Second on the team with 34 ground balls…Collected five goals (on six shots) in her first collegiate game, a 20-9 win over Penn State-Abington (March 14)...Added seven draw controls, four ground balls and two caused turnovers…Had career highs of six goals, seven points and a single-game program record 14 draw controls in a 20-15 win over Gwynedd Mercy (March 19)…Set a single-game record in that Gwynedd Mercy contest with three goals in a span of 2:56, the fastest three goals by a single Raptor individual in program history…In the Gwynedd Mercy game, also combined with freshman teammate Carly Gregg for goals nine seconds apart, tied for the second-fastest pair of Raptor goals ever and only one second shy of the program record…Scored multiple goals in eight of her 15 games…Had four or more draw controls in 10 games…Notched a high of seven ground balls against Rosemont (April 4)…Had a high of three caused turnovers against DeSales (March 23)…Collected a high of three assists, while adding three goals for six points, in a 19-7 win over SUNY-Purchase (March 15).
High School: Multi-sport athlete who earned six varsity letters in lacrosse and field hockey at Sterling High School.
