Biography

G Bellon’s first season as the lone Rutgers-Camden goalie proved to be a record-setting campaign, producing single-season program records with 171 saves and a .431 save percentage in 2022. Despite playing only 18 games (17 starts) during a two-year career, Bellon ranks fourth on the program’s career charts with 571 shots faced and 197 saves, in addition to holding the current career record with a .425 save percentage.
 
Academics: New Jersey Athletic Conference Academic Honorable Mention for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 scholastic years…Member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and Dean’s List student for the 2020 Fall, 2021 Spring, 2021 Fall and 2022 Spring semesters…One of only 29 athletes on the 151-member 2020 Fall AD Honor Roll to earn a perfect 4.0 GPA…One of only 27 athletes on the 125-member 2021 Spring AD Honor Roll to post a perfect 4.0 GPA…One of only 26 athletes on the 142-member 2021 Fall AD Honor Roll to post a perfect 4.0 GPA…One of only 26 athletes on the 119-member 2022 Spring AD Honor Roll to post a perfect 4.0 GPA.
 
Lacrosse 2022: Played every minute in goal for all 13 Rutgers-Camden games…Set the program’s single-season records with 171 saves and a .431 save percentage…Faced 492 shots, the second-highest single-season total in program history…Allowed 226 goals and posted a 17.26 goals-against average…Also led the team with 46 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers…Notched double-digit saves in 12 games, including eight games of 14 or more saves…Had a high of 17 saves against Stockton (April 12), the fifth-highest single-game amount of saves in program history…Also had 16 saves in games against Brynn Athyn (March 19) and Ramapo (April 23)…Posted 15-save games against Gwynedd Mercy (March 16), Immaculata (March 22) and Rowan (April 19)…Collected 14 saves against Eastern (March 2) and Bryn Mawr (March 7)…Compiled a .538 save percentage in the season-opening 13-12 win over Eastern…Made 11 save saves in a 16-11 win over Delaware Valley (March 14)…Had a season high of 10 ground balls, while adding 10 saves against Neumann (March 9)…Collected four caused turnovers in games against Bryn Athyn (March 19) and Ramapo (April 23).
 
Lacrosse 2021: Played in all five games during the pandemic-shortened season…Started four games…Collected 10 ground balls to lead the team…Added one caused turnover…In goal, played 153:16 minutes and allowed 40 goals for a 15.66 goals-against average…Faced 79 shots and made 26 saves for a .394 percentage…Posted a 0-1 record…Came off the bench in the season opener against Kean (April 3) to play 33:16 in goal, allowing 11 goals and making two saves…Earned starts on defense against The College of New Jersey (April 17) and Montclair State (April 21), while also playing the second half of the game in goal, making six and two saves, respectively…Made eight saves in both games against Stockton, a regular-season contest (April 24) and a New Jersey Athletic Conference playoff game (April 26)…Faced a season high of 21 shots in the playoff contest, allowing 10 goals and taking the loss.
 
Cross Country 2020-21: Ran at the 6K New Jersey Athletic Conference Championship meet (March 20), placing fourth on the Scarlet Raptors and 33rd of 36 overall (36:59.3).
 
High School: Multi-sport varsity letterwinner at Cherry Hill High School West…Lettered in lacrosse, bowling and field hockey…Played for coach Melissa Venturi, earning All-Conference Second Team lacrosse honors as a sophomore and All-Conference First Team as a junior…Also earned All-Conference First Team honors in bowling as a senior…National Honor Society member…Graduated in 2020.

Personal: Born May 3, 2002…Enjoys reading, running, volunteering at the Homeward Bound Animal Shelter and playing the bass guitar…Social Work major at Rutgers-Camden with a minor in Gender Studies…Plans to attend graduate school to earn a Master’s Degree in Social Work. After that, hopes to become a social worker for children and/or members of the LGBTQ+ community…Parents are Theresa and Joe Bellon of Cherry Hill.
