Biography
Amara Eley has competed with the women’s basketball program and the outdoor track team during her time at Rutgers-Camden. She also has earned numerous academic honors.
During her three seasons with the basketball team, she has appeared in 18 games, averaging 3.2 points and 1.7 rebounds, while adding 20 assists and five steals. She joined the outdoor track program in 2022, competing in the shot put.
Academics: New Jersey Athletic Conference Academic Honorable Mention for the 2021-22 and 2022-23 scholastic years…Member of the Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the 2020 Fall, 2021 Spring, 2021 Fall, 2022 Spring, 2022 Fall and 2023 Spring semesters…Dean’s List student.
Basketball 2022-23: Appeared in six games, averaging 1.7 points and 1.5 rebounds…Collected four assists and two steals…Shot 3-for-10 from the floor, including 2-for-5 from three-point range…Shot 2-for-2 from the foul line…Notched a career-high five rebounds and tied her career high of two steals against City College of New York (Dec. 28), while adding her season high of seven points and 14 minutes played…Also scored three points and added one assist against John Jay (Nov. 12).
Outdoor Track 2022: Competed in the shot put at four meets…Made her debut at the Stockton Invitational (March 26), finishing 18th of 27 in the shot put (7.94 meters)…Set her PR of 9.52 meters and finished 27th of 43 in the shot put at the Osprey Open (April 9)…Placed 43rd of 47 in the shot put (7.68 meters) at the Widener Invitational (April 22)…Capped her season at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (May 9), finishing 22nd of 23 in the shot put (7.72 meters).
Indoor Track 2021-22: Did not compete.
Basketball 2021-22: Appeared in seven games, averaging 4.0 points and 2.4 rebounds…Added 14 assists and two steals…Shot 10-for-39 (.256) from the field and 5-for-6 (.833) from the line…Collected a career-high four rebounds (two offensive and two defensive) against Penn State-Lehigh Valley (Nov. 7)…Had career highs of four assists and two steals against Alvernia (Nov. 15), while adding three rebounds and two points…Had three rebounds, three assists and three points at Stockton (Nov. 23)…Collected a career-high 11 points against Rowan (Dec. 8), shooting 5-for-5 (including one trey) from the floor.
Basketball 2020-21: Appeared in five of the Scarlet Raptors’ six games during the pandemic-shortened season…Averaged 3.8 points and 0.8 rebounds…Collected two assists and one steal…Shot 7-for-15 (.467) from the floor, including 3-for-9 (.333) from three-point range…Went 2-for-2 from the foul line…Made her collegiate debut against Rutgers-Newark (Feb. 5), scoring five points and adding one steal and one rebound…Shot 2-for-2 from the floor, including 1-for-1 from beyond the arc…The next day, also against Rutgers-Newark, established her career high of six points and also added both of her two assists for the season…Tied her career scoring high of six points against The College of New Jersey (Feb. 13)…Notched a career high of two rebounds at Stockton (Feb. 19).
High School: Multi-sport letterwinner at the Madeira School in McLean, Virginia…Lettered in basketball, softball, soccer and track and field…Graduated in 2020.
Personal: Born July 17, 2002…Enjoys video games, drawing, painting and taking pictures…” I’ve recently been doing a lot more artwork in my free time. I really love anime. My favorite anime is naruto, but I love many more. I also recently started cutting hair and it’s been pretty cool”…Psychology major at Rutgers-Camden who plans to continue school and potentially get her Juris Doctor degree…Main goal is to work with the FBI…Amara is the daughter of Robin Eley and Brashod Pulley of Alexandria, Virginia.
