Biography

Gavin Henry started 49 of the 65 games he played during his Rutgers-Camden career, averaging 6.2 points and 2.9 rebounds. He added 59 assists and 44 steals, in addition to numerous academic honors.
 
Henry captured honors for the 2023-24 scholastic year as Rutgers-Camden’s male winner of the Jeffrey L. Dean Scarlet Raptor of the Year.
 
Academics: New Jersey Athletic Conference Academic Honorable Mention for the 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24 scholastic years…Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the 2020 Fall, 2021 Spring, 2021 Fall, 2022 Spring, 2022 Fall, 2023 Spring, 2023 Fall and 2024 Spring semesters…Dean’s List student for the 2020 Fall, 2021 Spring, 2021 Fall, 2022 Fall, 2023 Spring and 2023 Fall semesters…One of only 22 athletes on the 151-member 2023 Fall AD Honor Roll to record a perfect 4.0 GPA.
 
Basketball 2023-24: Played in 16 games, starting one…Averaged 1.3 points and 1.1 rebounds…Added three assists, four steals and two blocked shots…Shot 6-for-9 from the foul line (.667)…Had his season high of nine points in his final game, coming against William Paterson (Feb. 10), shooting 3-for-4 from the floor, including 1-for-1 from three-point range, and 2-for-2 from the foul line…Notched four rebounds in that Paterson game and also against New Jersey City (Jan. 10)…Made his lone start of the season and played his season high of 17 minutes in the William Paterson game on Feb. 10.
 
Basketball 2022-23: Played in 18 games, starting 17…Averaged 5.8 points and 2.2 rebounds…Added 16 assists, 14 steals and one blocked shot…Scored in double figures on three occasions, including 20 points and a career-high tying nine rebounds against Saint Elizabeth (Nov. 12)…Also had 14 points against Bryn Athyn (Nov. 19), when he tied his career high of four assists, and shot 6-for-7 from the foul line…Notched 10 points against Rowan (Dec. 7)…Tied his career high of three steals against Montclair State (Dec. 3).
 
Basketball 2021-22: Started all 22 Rutgers-Camden games…Finished third on the team in scoring (8.3 ppg), third in rebounding (3.7 rpg), third in assists (29) and second in steals (17)…Shot 60-for-185 (.324) from the floor, including 35-for-122 (.287) while leading the team in three-point field goals…Shot 27-for-39 (.692) from the foul line…Scored a career-high 26 points against Ramapo (Jan. 12), shooting 10-for-18 from the floor (3-for-10 from three-point range) and 3-for-3 from the foul line…Tied his career high of nine rebounds, set during the 2020-21 season, at Rowan (Feb. 2), while adding 13 points…Scored in double figures on eight occasions, including 18 against Stockton (Jan. 19) and 16 against Albertus Magnus (Nov. 16)…Tied his career high of four assists against Baruch (Nov. 30), one of five times he dished out at least three assists in a game…Collected his career high of three steals against Cabrini (Nov. 11).
 
Basketball 2020-21: Started all nine games for the Scarlet Raptors…Led the team in scoring, averaging 10.4 points per game…Second in rebounding (5.8 rpg) and steals (9) and third in assists (11)…Shot .395 from the floor (34-for-86), including .341 (15-for-44) from three-point range…Shot .611 (11-for-18) from the foul line…Added one blocked shot…Named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week and Rutgers-Camden’s Raptor of the Week on Feb. 22…Collected nine points and three rebounds at Rutgers-Newark in his first collegiate game (Feb. 5)…The next day, in a home contest against Rutgers-Newark, notched his season high of 15 points, while adding two rebounds and his first two collegiate steals…Barely missed a double-double against The College of New Jersey (Feb. 12), scoring 10 points and adding nine rebounds…That game was part of a five-game stretch that he scored in double figures, starting with the Feb. 6 Rutgers-Newark game…Added 13 points at The College of New Jersey (Feb. 13) and hit for 14 and 11 points in back-to-back games against Stockton (Feb. 19 and 20)…Added nine rebounds in the Feb. 20 Stockton game…Dished out his season high of four assists, while adding eight points and eight rebounds, at William Paterson (Feb. 27).
 
High School: Earned four varsity letters while playing basketball and running track and cross country at Winslow Township High School…Played basketball for Coach Wayne Nelson, earning All-Conference Second Team as a senior…Named Student of the Month…Captured the People’s Choice Award in 2020…Earned Scholar Athlete of the Year…Graduated in 2020.
