Biography
Arian Azemi had a phenomenal debut season with the Scarlet Raptors during his first year at Rutgers University-Camden. A transfer from San Bernardino Valley College (California), the point guard set a program single-season mark record in steals, while also leading the team in assists. He finished second in both scoring and rebounding.
After only one season, Azemi ranks 20th on the Rutgers-Camden career chart in assists (120) and is 19 steals shy of becoming the 16th player in program history to reach 100 for his career.
Basketball 2019-20: Started all 25 games…Averaged 18.8 points and 6.0 rebounds, both totals second on the team…Set a single-season program mark with 81 steals…Also led the club with 120 assists…Added eight blocked shots…Shot 167-for-398 (.420) from the floor, including 40-for-124 (.323) from three-point range…Shot 95-for-159 (.597) from the foul line)…Named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Player of the Week, Jan. 20…Rutgers-Camden Raptor of the Week Dec. 2 and Jan. 20…Scored in double figures in 24 of his 25 games, including seven times with 20 or more points…Scored over 30 points twice…Had three double-doubles, including one against Rowan with 18 points and his season-high of 14 rebounds (Jan. 22)…Notched 10 assists on two occasions, adding 12 points both times for double-doubles against Rosemont (Nov. 10) and Kean (Feb. 1)…Had four or more assists on 19 occasions…Collected three or more steals in 14 games…Had his season high of nine steals, tying the single-game program record, at Montclair State (Jan. 15), when he nearly notched a double-double by combining with his season high of 35 points…He also added six assists and eight rebounds in that game as Rutgers-Camden won on the Red Hawks’ court for the first time since Jan. 28, 2004…Made his Rutgers-Camden debut in the season opener at Arcadia (Nov. 9), collecting 19 points, six rebounds, six steals, five assists and one blocked shot…Had his first 20-point game with a total of 21 against John Jay (Nov. 13), adding seven rebounds, five assists, three steals and one block…Scored 29 points at Rowan (Nov. 26), shooting 12-for-19 from the floor…In addition to his 35 points at Montclair State, scored 31 against New Jersey City (Feb. 15), including his season high of five three-pointers (in 10 attempts)…Closed his season with 27 points, seven rebounds, six assists and four steals against Montclair State (Feb. 19).
Pre-Rutgers: Played two seasons of basketball at San Bernardino Valley College in San Bernardino, California…Appeared in 28 games (seven starts) during the 2017-18 season, averaging 5.9 points and 2.1 rebounds, while notching 75 assists, 35 steals and one block…As a sophomore during the 2018-19 campaign, played in 28 games, starting one, while averaging 6.9 points and 2.4 rebounds…Added 60 assists, 48 steals and one block.
