Biography

A rare and valuable pitcher who can start, work long relief or close games, Carter Fichter has been a steady arm on the Scarlet Raptors’ pitching staff for three seasons. As he enters his final collegiate campaign, Fichter continues his climb up the career pitching charts at Rutgers-Camden. His 3.26 ERA currently ranks eighth in program history for all pitchers over 100 innings pitched. He also owns three career saves, tied for 10th place in program history, his eight wins are tied for 19th on the career list and his 107-2/3 career innings pitched rank 29th on the all-time charts.

As a freshman, Fichter was a three-time New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie Pitcher of the Week. He also captured a berth on the New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association’s Division II/III All-Rookie Team. During his sophomore season, he was named Rutgers-Camden’s Raptor of the Week (March 7, 2016) and his junior season saw him serve as one of the Raptors’ team captains and compile one of the finest outings in program history with nine scoreless innings in relief.

During his three seasons with the Scarlet Raptors, Fichter has appeared in 33 games (19th on the career list), starting six, and posting an 8-6 record, three saves and 89 strikeouts in his 107-2/3 innings. He has only 25 walks, while pitching to a 3.26 ERA.

A stellar student as well, Fichter was a member of Rutgers-Camden’s inaugural Athletic Director’s Honor Roll (Fall 2015 semester) and also was named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the Fall 2016 semester.
