Biography

Southpaw Chase Cooper appeared in 38 games at Rutgers-Camden, including 37 on the mound and one as a pinch-runner. He made 28 starts and pitched in 162 innings, posting a 4.61 career ERA, the 21st-best in program history for all pitchers with a minimum of 100 innings. Cooper fashioned a career 13-6 record, including a 10-2 mark over his final two seasons. He capped his career with a 5-2 record and a team-leading 2.62 ERA as a senior, while earning honors on the D3baseball.com All-Region 4 Third Team.

Baseball 2024: Made eight appearances, starting eight games…Tied for the team lead with five wins, posting a 5-0 record…Finished third on the team with 47 innings pitched and 40 strikeouts…Had the best ERA (3.60) out of the Raptors’ four main starters…Walked 10 and struck out 40…The southpaw held lefthanded hitters to a paltry .063 batting average (1-for-16)…Averaged 5.88 innings per appearance, the second-highest total on the team…Beat Gwynedd Mercy in his opening start (Feb. 27), working five innings and allowing seven hits and three runs (only two earned), while striking out eight batters…Posted a win over Rosemont (March 3, Game One) with a combined shutout in a 13-0 game…He allowed only three hits in five innings, while striking out four in that game…The Rosemont outing earned him honors as Rutgers-Camden’s Raptor of the Week on March 4…Led the Raptors past Oneonta in a 17-5 game shortened by a 10-run rule, working four innings and allowing seven hits, five runs (four earned) and one walk, while striking out three…Worked seven innings in a 10- win over Ursinus, allowing five hits, two walks and one earned run, while fanning four…Didn’t get a decision in the Raptors’ 4-3 win over Kean (April 6. Game Two), working 6-2/3 innings of three-hit ball, allowing four walks and two earned runs, while striking out seven…Beat Rutgers-Newark, 7-2 (April 13, Game One), by pitching seven innings, allowing three hits, one walk and one earned run, while fanning four…Worked seven innings without a decision against Ramapo (April 20, Game Two), allowing seven hits, three earned runs and one walk, adding two strikeouts…The Raptors eventually lost that game, 4-3, for the only time the team lost in his eight starts…Finished the year in Rutgers-Camden’s 12-7 win at William Paterson (April 27, Game One), allowing six earned runs and eight hits in 5-1/3 innings, striking out eight and walking one.
 
Baseball 2023: Appeared in seven games, making three starts and four relief appearances…Worked 17-2/3 innings…Posted a 1-1 record and a 6.62 ERA…Allowed 28 hits and 14 runs (13 earned), while walking eight, hitting one and striking out eight…Most of the damage came in his first outing against York (March 1), with eight hits and six earned runs in 1-2/3 innings while suffering the loss…In his final six outings over 16 innings, allowed only seven earned runs for a 3.94 ERA…Held lefties to a .118 batting average (2-for-17)…Notched hit lone win of the season with a stellar five-inning, four-hit shutout appearance against Rosemont (March 28), walking two and striking out three in a 6-4 Raptor victory…Hurled 1-2/3 shutout innings of relief against Stockton (April 13), allowing two hits and a walk, while striking out two…Worked his season high of six innings in a start at Alvernia, allowing six hits, three runs (two earned) and one walk, while striking out three without getting a decision.
