Gerry Slavin brings his vast baseball knowledge and experiences to the Rutgers University-Camden coaching staff in 2026.
 
Slavin captured four varsity baseball letters as the starting shortstop for Holy Cross High School, graduating in 1991. He was named to the First Team Burlington Liberty Division and First Team All-Burlington County in both his junior and senior seasons and capped his scholastic career by earning First Team All-South Jersey recognition in 1991.
 
Slavin continued his career at West Virginia University, where he started every inning of every game at shortstop during his freshman year, earning All-Conference honors in 1992. He earned a berth as the third baseman on the All-Atlantic Regional All-Star team in the NCAA Tournament in 1994. He finished his career with a .325 batting average, including a .390 post-season mark in 18 games.
 
Slavin received a Psychology degree from West Virginia University and a Behavioral Science degree from Wilmington University.  
 
A coach and instructor at his own company, Slavin Baseball, since September of 2023, he trains and mentors student athletes ranging in age from Little League to college. Slavin Baseball is the latest in a long line of coaching experiences for the newest Scarlet Raptor coach. He also served as an assistant coach at Holy Cross (1995-96 and 2024-25), helping the team capture the 2024 Burlington Freedom Division title and guiding several players who advanced to collegiate and professional baseball.
 
From 2007-09, Slavin was a Hitting and Fielding Instructor at Hit Doctor Baseball and from 2013-14 he served as an assistant coach and instructor at South Jersey Elite Baseball, where he provided hitting instruction and led infield and outfield workouts in winter training sessions.
 
Between 2015-21, Slavin served as the Head Coach for Mt. Laurel Youth Baseball and the Swedesboro-Woolwich Little League, coaching Little League and Cal Ripken teams to work with his son.
 
A Night Shift Supervisor for USF, Slavin is a resident of Mickleton.
