Biography

A versatile utility man and relief pitcher, Dustin Bellis has appeared in 52 games with the Scarlet Raptors, including 26 out of the bullpen. Offensively, he started 13 games and hit .300 (15-for-50) with nine runs, 11 RBIs, a .320 slugging percentage and a .375 on-base percentage. On the mound, in 35 career innings, he posted a 1-0 record with 31 strikeouts and a 6.94 ERA, saving his best performance for the 2024 season with a sparkling 0.93 ERA.

Baseball 2024: Appeared in eight games out of the bullpen…Posted a 1-0 record and a stellar 0.93 ERA in 9-2/3 innings…Allowed six hits and two runs, only one earned…Walked three and hit two…Struck out nine…Held opponents to a .167 batting average and only one extra-base hit (a double)…Held opponents scoreless in seven of his eight relief outings, allowing only two runs (one earned) in 1-1/3 innings against Ramapo on April 20 (Game One)…Earned the win for his first collegiate decision in a 9-8 victory over Alvernia (April 16) with one scoreless, hitless inning, walking one and striking out one…That game ran his streak of scoreless appearances to six games to start the season, covering 7-2/3 innings…Had one shutout inning with one strikeout against Rosemont (March 3, Game One) in his first appearance of the season…Allowed two hits and struck out two in a scoreless inning against Saint Joseph (March 11)…Pitched two shutout innings, allowing one hit and striking out one, against Ursinus (March 25)…Had a scoreless, hitless inning at The College of New Jersey (April 7), picking up one strikeout…Walked one and struck out one in 1-2/3 scoreless, hitless innings against Rowan (April 12)…Closed the season with 2/3 of an inning at William Paterson (April 27, Game One), allowing no hits, no runs and one walk, while fanning one…Had at least one strikeout in all eight of his appearances…Held righthanded batters to a .143 average (4-for-28)…Lefties hit .250 (2-for-8) against him.
 
Baseball 2023: Played in 16 games, starting two…Hit .385 (5-for-13) with seven RBIs, three runs and one sacrifice…Walked once, was hit by a pitch once and compiled a .467 on-base percentage…Added two putouts and one assist…On the mound, appeared in six games, working five innings, while walking four and striking out four…Had a four-game hitting streak from March 15-25, going 4-for-8 (.500) with five RBIs and one run scored…Hit .667 off lefties (2-for-3), .300 off righties (3-for-10), .444 with runners on base (4-for-9), .500 with the bases loaded (2-for-4), .500 at a pinch-hitter (2-for-4), .500 with runners in scoring position (4-for-8), 1.000 with runners on third and less than two outs (2-for-2), .429 with two outs (3-for-7) and was successful in advancing runners nine times in 12 opportunities (.750)…Hit a two-run single in the seventh inning during the Raptors’ 17-2 win over Plymouth State (March 15)…Had a two-run single in the fourth inning as the Raptors blanked Ursinus, 5-0 (March 25, Game Two)…Went 1-for-2 with one walk and one RBI against Alvernia (April 25), while adding his only two putouts of the season…On the mound hurled shutout ball in four of his six outings, including a one-inning stint against York (March 1) when he struck out two and allowed only one walk…Worked 1-2/3 innings against Rutgers-Newark (April 6), facing the minimum of five batters and allowing only a hit batsman, who was erased on a double play...Struck out one in 2/3-innings of scoreless ball against Montclair State (May 2, Game Two).
 
Baseball 2022: Appeared in 19 games, starting 11, and hitting .278 with six runs and four RBIs…Had a .306 slugging percentage and a .350 on-base percentage…Defensively, had 10 putouts and five assists…On the mound, made four relief appearances over 5.1 innings, posting an 11.81 ERA, three walks and six strikeouts…His longest mound stint of 2.1 innings came against York (March 1), when he allowed three hits and three earned runs, while fanning three…Started at third base against Wilson (March 8, Game Two) and went 1-for-2 with one run and two RBIs, including a bunt RBI single in the second inning and a bases-loaded HBP in the fifth…Had a four-game hitting streak from April 9 (Game Two) through April 16 (Game One), going 5-for-13 (.385) with four runs, three walks and two RBIs…The two RBIs during that streak came against New Jersey City (April 16, Game One) on a ground out and a single, helping the Raptors post an 8-6 victory.
 
Baseball 2021: Played in nine games, including eight relief appearances and one pinch-hitting appearance…Worked 15 innings, allowing 14 hits and 12 earned runs for a 7.20 ERA…Walked 11, struck out 12 and hit two…Made his collegiate debut at William Paterson (March 21, Game One), working three innings, striking out two, allowing two hits and one earned run…He added his first two collegiate assists in that contest…Made his longest relief appearance of the season by working 4.1 innings at Kean (March 27, Game Two), walking one, striking out three and throwing two-hit shutout ball…Out of his eight mound appearances, hurled shutout ball in four of them and allowed just one run in another…Made his pinch-hitting appearance in the eighth inning against Kean (April 24, Game One) and reached on an error before being inserted in left field…Hurled shutout ball over his final three appearances and 3.1 innings of the season at The College of New Jersey (April 30, two innings), at Ramapo (May 1, Game One, one inning) and at William Paterson (May 7, Game Two, striking out the lone batter he faced).
 
High School: Captured three letters in baseball and four in basketball at Audubon High School…Played for baseball Coach Rich Horan…Earned a 2020 Colonial Conference Sportsmanship Award…Also played ball for the Brooklawn American Legion program…Honor Roll student at Audubon High School who graduated in 2020.
 
Personal: Born July 24, 2001…Nicknamed “DB”…Enjoys hanging out with friends and family…Also loves to watch all Philly sports…Member of the Rutgers-Camden Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)…Criminal Justice major with an Accounting minor at Rutgers-Camden…Plans after graduation to go into Federal Law Enforcement…Dustin is the son of Maureen and Steve Bellis of Audubon.
