Biography

After pitching in five games as a freshman pitcher in 2012, Ed King saw action in junior varsity games in 2013 while earning his second letter with the baseball program. He returned to the Scarlet Raptors as an infielder during the 2014 season and will complete his collegiate eligibility with the Scarlet Raptors this season.
 
Baseball 2014: Played in nine games, hitting .222 (2-for-9) with two runs and three RBIs…Had one double, one walk and went 1-for-1 on stolen base attempts…Saw his first action as a pinch-hitter and defensive replacement at third base against Worcester State (March 18), and picked up one assist while going 1-for-1 – a sixth-inning single for his first collegiate hit…Notched his first collegiate RBI with an eighth-inning fielder’s choice in a win over Washington and Jefferson (March 20)…Notched an RBI on a ground out against New Jersey City University (April 3)…Capped his season going 1-for-3 with two runs, a double, a walk and one RBI against Brandywine (April 22).
 
Baseball 2013:  Earned his second baseball letter, seeing action with the JV team.
 
Baseball 2012: Made five relief appearances, working a total of 6-2/3 innings...Compiled a 0-0 record and a 9.45 ERA, allowing 10 hits, five walks and one hit batsman…Surrendered eight runs (seven earned) and struck out three…Made collegiate debut against Moravian College (Feb. 24), allowing two hits, three walks and three earned runs in 1-1/3 innings…Hurled one perfect inning against Bethany College (March 16), ending the Raptors’ 12-3 victory with his first collegiate strikeout…Had his longest outing of the season with three innings against Ramapo College (April 28, Game One), allowing three hits and one earned run while striking out one.
 
High School: Two-year varsity baseball letterman at Holy Cross High School for Coach Steve Paolini…As a freshman, was named the Offensive Player of the Year on the JV team…Helped team win conference title as a senior…Honor roll student during senior year.
 
Personal: Born June 24, 1993…Has served as a member of Rutgers-Camden’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)…Honors College during his freshman year…Actively involved in the Bancroft and Riverton Porch Club charity…Enjoys skiing…Accounting major with a Finance minor at Rutgers-Camden who plans to “be a CEO or continue to play baseball”…Ed is the son of Priscilla Taylor and Gary King of Riverton.
