Biography

After missing the entire 2024 season with an injury, Frankie Romond returned with a vengeance in 2025, proving his all-around talents as the best second baseman in the New Jersey Athletic Conference and Region 4. He captured several post-season First Team honors, while leading the Scarlet Raptors to the first NJAC title in program history.
 
A senior academically who had junior athletic eligibility, Romond set or challenged numerous program records , posted highlight-reel accomplishments and amassed school, conference and regional honors.
 
During his three-year career on the Rutgers-Camden baseball diamond, Romond collected 141 hits, the 14th-highest total in program history and the second-highest total for any player in three seasons. His 96 RBIs rank seventh on the Raptors’ career charts, while he also notched nine home runs (tied for ninth in program history), 25 doubles (14th), a .491 slugging percentage (16th) and a .328 batting average (21st).
 
A Dean’s List student, Romond also added a host of academic honors.
 
Academics: New Jersey Athletic Conference Academic Honorable Mention for the 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25 scholastic years…Rutgers-Camden Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and Dean’s List student for the 2021 Fall, 2022 Spring, 2022 Fall, 2023 Fall, 2024 Spring, 2024 Fall and 2025 Spring semesters…One of only 26 athletes out of the 142-member 2022 Spring AD Honor Roll to post a perfect 4.0 GPA.
 
Baseball 2025:  New Jersey Athletic Conference First Team…D3baseball.com All-Region 4 First Team…ABCA All-Region 4 First Team…Rutgers-Camden Raptor of the Week on April 28…Served as one of the four Scarlet Raptor captains…Led the team in hitting (.363) while setting a single-season program mark with 179 at bats…Also led the team and placed among the single-season program records with 111 total bases (second), 46 runs (fourth), 65 hits (fourth), eight home runs (tied for fourth, one shy of the record) and 46 RBIs (sixth)…Paced the team with four triples and finished second on the Raptors with 14 doubles (tied for the program’s seventh-best season mark)…Set the single-season program record by turning 31 double plays…Collected 124 assists, the third-highest single-season mark in program history…Collected five-hit games against both Gwynedd Mercy (Feb. 25) and Rowan (April 14), tied for the fourth-highest amount of single-game hits in program history and only one hit behind the three-way tie for the record…Those games gave him a trio of five-hit games in his career, including one against Neumann in 2022…Had seven at bats against Montclair State (May 3), tied for the fourth-highest total in program history and only one behind the single-game program record…Collected six RBIs against both Gwynedd Mercy (Feb. 25, going 5-for-5, including a double and a triple with two stolen bases with three runs) and against Cortland (March 9, going 3-for-6 with a double, triple, home run and two runs)…Tied for the team lead with 18 multiple-hit games and was second on the team with 13 multiple-RBI games…His eight-game hitting streak from (April 10-19, 18-for-37, .486, nine runs and seven RBIs) was the third-longest streak on the team and his longest hitless streak of the season was two games (March 15-16)…In addition to his five-hit games, went 4-for-6 with three runs and two RBIs in a NJAC playoff win over Rowan (May 7), had six three-hit games and nine two-hit games…Went 2-for-5 against The College of New Jersey (April 4), collecting a solo home run for his 100th career hit…Came within one hit of a cycle on two occasions, missing a home run against Gwynedd Mercy (Feb. 25) and missing a single against Cortland (March 9)…Ripped four home runs in a five-game span from April 22-April 26.

Baseball 2023: Hit .285 with team-leading totals of 36 RBIs, four triples and six sacrifices…Tied for the club lead with nine doubles…Scored 28 runs…Started 37 of his 38 games, including 17 in the outfield, 11 at first base and nine at third base…Hit .352 when starting in the outfield…Finished second on the team with 56 total bases…Collected three sacrifice flies…Had a .409 slugging percentage (second among regulars) and a .369 on-base percentage…Reached base six times as a hit batsman and had more walks (14) than strikeouts (13)…Successful on seven of his nine stolen base attempts…Collected 97 putouts and 31 assists, while making four errors for a .970 fielding percentage…Contributed to five double plays…Hit .667 (4-for-6) with the bases loaded and .304 (24-for-79) with runners on base, including .339 (19-for-56) with runners in scoring position…Hit .783 (18-for-23) with a runner on third base and less than two outs…Advanced 60 runners in 95 opportunities (.632)…Tied for third on the team with nine multiple-hit games…Had a pair of six-game hitting streaks from April 1-8 (7-for-24, .292) and April 21-May 2 (13-for-25, .520)…Tied a single-game program record with two triples, coming in the seventh and eighth innings, against Delaware Valley (Feb. 23), while going 3-for-5 with three runs and six RBIs…Named Rutgers-Camden Raptor of the Week on Feb. 27…Had a game-tying two-run single in the ninth inning in the Raptors’ eventual 8-7 10-inning win over nationally-ranked Rowan (April 21) in a game where he went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs…In an April 22 doubleheader against William Paterson, went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs in the opener and 2-for-6 (both doubles) with four RBIs in the nightcap…Had 11 putouts against The College of New Jersey (April 27) and 10 against Rutgers-Newark (April 7)…Had his high of five assists against Ursinus (March 25, Game One).

Baseball 2022: Played in 39 of the Scarlet Raptors’ 40 games, starting 34…Led all regulars in batting average (.325) and on-base percentage (.450)…Hit .356 to finish the season after starting his career 1-for-13 (0.77)…Led the team in stolen bases (9-for-12) and tied for the club lead with one triple…Had two doubles, one home run and 44 total bases…Second on the team with 21 walks…Had a .386 slugging percentage…Collected 64 putouts and 17 assists, while also turning three double plays…Played mainly in right field, with a few games at second base…Went 5-for-5 with one run and four RBIs against Neumann University (April 12), one shy of the program record for hits in a game…His five hits (all singles) were the most by a Scarlet Raptor since R.J. Concepcion had five hits against New Jersey City University on April 10, 2021…Named Rutgers-Camden’s Raptor of the Week on April 18…Collected eight multiple-hit games, including his five hits and a 4-for-4 performance against Wilson (March 8, Game One), which sparked his terrific season after his .077 start…Had three multiple-RBI games, highlighted by his four RBIs against Neumann…Notched his season-high six-game hitting streak from April 12-19 (15-for-26, .577), starting with his five-hit game against Neumann…Went 2-for-2 on stolen base attempts against both Alvernia (March 22) and William Paterson (April 23, Game One)…Made his collegiate debut starting both ends of a doubleheader against Oneonta (Feb. 27) and going 0-for-5 with one run…Had his first hit (1-for-1) and scored a run in the opener of a March 5 twinbill at FDU-Florham, which was his lone hit in his first 13 at bats before catching fire with his 4-for-4 game against Wilson…Had a high of seven putouts against New Jersey City (April 16, Game Two) while playing right field…Notched a high of four assists against William Paterson (April 23, Game Two) while starting at second base before moving to right field…Had another four assists against Montclair State (April 30, Game One) while playing second base.
