Biography

Giacomo Antonicello made the switch from shortstop to right field during the 2024 season and continued his versatility in 2025 when he played second base, shortstop, first base and in the outfield.
 
Over his three seasons at Rutgers-Camden, Antonicello played in 87 games, starting 64, and compiling a .261 batting average. He scored 53 runs and collected 39 RBIs, while adding 11 doubles, three triples and two home runs. He reached base four times as a hit batsman and walked 41 times, compiling a .381 on-base percentage. He added a .365 slugging percentage, five sacrifices and three sacrifice flies.
 
Defensively, Antonicello notched 119 career putouts and 89 assists, while turning 18 double plays.

Baseball 2025: Appeared in 23 games, starting 11…Produced a slash line of .200/.351/.244 with two doubles, 10 walks and one HBP…Scored 10 runs and added seven RBIs…Had one sacrifice fly and went 3-for-5 on stolen base  attempts…Had a .976 fielding percentage with 28 putouts, 13 assists and one error, while turning one double play… Had his best game in the opener of a Feb. 22 doubleheader against Immaculata, starting at second base and going 3-for-4 with three runs, one walk, one stolen base and one RBI, while collecting three putouts and two assists…Went 1-for-3 with a double, one run and one RBI against Rosemont (March 12)…Went 1-fpr-2 with three walks, one run, one stolen base and one RBI against Rutgers-Newark (April 13, Game One)…Had a season-high four putouts playing right field against Centenary (April 22), while going 1-for-3 with a double, two walks, two runs and one RBI.
 
Baseball 2024: Appeared in 29 games, starting 23…Hit .329 (24-for-73) with 16 runs and 16 RBIs…Had four doubles and one triple, while being successful in his lone stolen base attempt…Walked eight times and tied for second on the team with four sacrifices…Also added one sacrifice fly…Posted a .411 slugging percentage and a .390 on-base percentage for an .801 OPS…Went 3-for-3 with one run scored in the Raptors’ season opener against Immaculata (Feb. 24)…Was 2-for-4 with one run and three RBIs against Gwynedd Mercy (Feb. 27)…Against nationally-ranked Johns Hopkins (March 5), went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI…Collected five hits, the season high for any Scarlet Raptor, in a 17-5 win over Oneonta (March 12), going 5-for-5, including a double, with five runs and two RBIs…One game later, facing UMass-Dartmouth (March 14), went 2-for-4 with three RBIs , one stolen base and one sacrifice…Was 2-for-2 with a double, a walk and two RBIs against William Paterson (April 27, Game One)…In a NJAC playoff game against The College of New Jersey (May 3), went 2-for-4 with one RBI…Had a season high of four putouts against Emerson (March 15) and collected an outfield assist against Bowdoin (March 16).
 
Baseball 2023: Played in 35 games, starting 30, including 28 at shortstop and one apiece at second and third base…Scored 27 runs and drove home 16…Slashed .240/.385/.389…Stole five bases in seven attempts…Collected five doubles, two triples and two home runs, tied for the second-highest home run total on the team…Had 52 putouts and was second on the team with 75 assists…Turned 17 double plays, tied for second on the team…Hit .600 (6-for-10) with a runner on third base and less than two outs…Collected five multiple-hit games and three multiple-RBI games…Had a trio of three-game hitting streaks from Feb. 23-March 4 (6-for-12, .500), from March 11-13 (3-for-10, .300) and from March 15-18 (6-for-10, .600)…Went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs and two RBIs in his first game as a Scarlet Raptor, the season opener against Delaware Valley (Feb. 23)…Went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, two runs and one RBI against FDU-Florham (March 4)…Went 3-for-4 with a triple, a walk and four runs scored against Plymouth State (March 15)…In the opener of a doubleheader against Ursinus (March 25), went 1-for-4 with two walks, two runs and four RBIs, including a three-run home run…His RBI single in the top of the ninth inning led to the Raptors’ 9-8 win at Keystone (April 4)…His two-out RBI walk in the 10th inning forced home the winning run in a 4-3 victory over Rutgers-Newark (April 7)…Had five or more assists in five games, with a high of seven against Stockton (April 13)…Collected his high of five putouts against Arcadia (April 18).
 
Pre-Rutgers: Appeared in one game at Arcadia University during the Covid-shortened 2020 season, going 0-for-2 and collecting one assist against Johns Hopkins (Feb. 23)…Played in 25 games (.247, 12 runs, 10 RBIs, 8-for-9 on stolen base attempts) at Atlantic Cape Community College in 2021…Played in 30 games at Atlantic Cape in 2022 (.209, 14 runs, 13 RBIs, 7-for-8 in stolen bases)…Served as the Atlantic Cape baseball team captain during the 2021-22 scholastic year.
