Harry Sturgis blossomed into one of the top young pitchers in the New Jersey Athletic Conference last season, when he jumped into the Scarlet Raptors’ rotation and played a key role in helping Rutgers-Camden earn its first NCAA tournament berth in program history.

Baseball 2014: Made nine appearances, including seven starts, as a rookie…Compiled a 4-0 record and a 3.17 ERA…Had one complete game, a 2-0 shutout over William Paterson University (April 12), in which he allowed only three hits, while walking none and striking out five…Third on the team with 48.1 innings pitched…Allowed only 39 hits and 11 walks…Struck out 16 and held opponents to a .222 batting average…Rutgers-Camden went 7-0 in his seven starts…Named to the New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association Div. II/III All-Rookie Team…New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie Pitcher of the Week April 14 following his shutout against Paterson…Made his collegiate debut with a start against Worcester State (March 18), working seven innings of six-hit ball, allowing two earned runs and two walks while striking out two in a 13-2 victory…Hurled hitless ball in relief stints against Trinity College (March 22, one inning, one strikeout) and Kean University (March 31, 1.1 innings)…Became a starter for good and earned a spot in the Scarlet Raptors’ NJAC pitching rotation, with 7.2 innings of three-hit ball in an 8-2 win over Montclair State (April 5, Game Two)…Allowed two earned runs and three walks, while striking out five in that game…Following his shutout of Paterson, worked six innings of four-hit ball, allowing two runs (only one earned) and three walks, striking out one in a 6-4 win over Richard Stockton College (April 17)…Had no decision in a six-inning start against Ramapo College (April 26, Game One), allowing eight hits and four runs – only one earned – while walking two and striking out one during another 6-4 Raptor win…Hurled eight innings and picked up a 5-3 victory against Kean University in the NJAC playoffs (May 3), allowing eight hits and three earned runs, while striking out one and not walking a batter…Through his first eight appearances of the season, his ERA stood at 1.76 before enduring his only tough outing of the year in the NCAA Tournament against Castleton State (May 15)…Started and worked 2.1 innings in that game, allowing one walk, seven hits and eight earned runs, but the Scarlet Raptors won an 18-11 slugfest for the first NCAA tournament win in program history…Had his season high of five fielding chances (three putouts, two assists) in the Worcester State game (March 18).
