Jack Murphy capped his record-setting Rutgers-Camden baseball career with his best season as a Scarlet Raptor, earning numerous honors while re-writing the program’s record books. Murphy leaves Rutgers-Camden as the program’s career leader in games (184), doubles (49), home runs (23) and RBIs (157), while ranking second in runs (128), total bases (309) and at bats (612). He is third on the all-time chart in walks (76) and HBP (43), fifth in hits (185) and tied for fifth in sacrifice flies (9).

Murphy compiled a .302 career batting average, a .411 on-base percentage and a .505 slugging percentage during his career, which included games at first base, designated hitter and on the mound. His career pitching stats include 29 appearances, including 19 starts, over 112.2 innings. He compiled a 4-6 record and a 4.07 ERA, the 16th-best Rutgers-Camden career ERA for all pitchers with a minimum of 100 innings pitched.

Murphy earned All-New Jersey Athletic Conference honors for both his work on the baseball diamond and in the classroom, while adding numerous other academic and athletic awards.

Baseball 2022: New Jersey Athletic Conference Honorable Mention…NJAC Player of the Week on April 11…Rutgers-Camden Raptor of the Week on April 11…Tied the single-season program home run record with nine, set by Brian Murphy in 2001 and tied by Connor Hall in 2014, launching his ninth homer against Stockton (April 15)…Hit .302 with team-leading totals of nine home runs, 10 doubles, 32 runs, 29 RBIs, 79 bases, 24 walks, eight HBP, a .568 slugging percentage and a .998 OPS…Led the club with seven multiple-RBI games…Had the team’s longest hitting streak of 13 games, from the second game of a season-opening doubleheader (Feb. 27) through March 18, going 18-for-40 (.400) during that streak…After his hitting streak was broken, he ran off another four-game hitting streak (9-for-16, .563)…Collected four RBIs against Plattsburgh State (March 16) and had three-RBI games against both Wilson (March 8, Game One) and Stockton (April 15). ..Also appeared in seven games (six starts) on the mound, working 30 innings and compiling a 2-4 record and a 4.80 ERA…Defensively, led the team with 269 putouts and was second on the Raptors with 22 double plays…His NJAC Player of the Week honor followed a four-game stretch in which he hit .417 (5-for-12) with a .588 on-base percentage and an .833 slugging percentage, while adding a victory over Keystone with seven shutout innings…Went 2-for-2 with two doubles, one run, one RBI and one walk in the second game of a doubleheader vs. Oneonta (Feb. 27)…Hit his first two home runs of the season in back-to-back games of a doubleheader at FDU-Florham (March 5), going 2-for-6 with two runs and three RBIs on the day…Hit a home run in three straight games from March 16-18, coming against Plattsburgh State, Western New England and Ripon…Had six games with two walks apiece…Had 14 games with 10 or more putouts, including 14 in both ends of a doubleheader against Kean (April 2)…On the mound, earned the victory in a seven-inning 8-2 win over Oneonta (Feb. 27, Game One) on Opening Day, working four innings of six-hit ball, allowing two earned runs and three hits, while fanning five…Was saddled with a loss against Mitchell (March 14, Game One) despite all four runs being unearned in a three-inning outing in which he walked one and allowed three hits…Beat Keystone (April 5) with a seven-inning performance in a 3-2 win, allowing eight hits, one walk and no runs, while striking out seven.

Baseball 2020: Appeared in two games during the abbreviated 2020 season, which was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic…Went 1-for-2 (.500) with one run, two RBIs and one home run, while adding one putout and one assist…Had an outstanding 2.000 slugging percentage…Made his debut in a 0-for-1 pinch-hitting appearance against Immaculata (Game Two, Feb. 23), while adding a putout and an assist after entering the game defensively…Made his first collegiate hit a big one, slamming a two-run pinch-hit home run in the ninth inning at Neumann (March 9)…That at bat earned him honors as the New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week on March 16.
